    Hi EASTER,
Maybe you are right with Panda Dome but for me it’s too late. I still have a valid license for about 6 month but I gave up. Right now I am on Windows Defender and Voodooshied and all is well.:)

We are always excited when one these AV vendors like Panda for one puts all sorts of teeth into their programs, but like you, Windows Defender (who would have thought this a few years ago?) is firmly enough adequate for the purpose intended and it is auto-built-in the O/S which makes matters a lot more easier to deal with.

    Good Day @Antarctica

    That did the trick! :thumb:

Right Click on Desktop Icon for Panda AV > PSUAMain properties > Compatibility > Place tick in the box "Overide high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by:", changed from 'Application' to 'System'.

One of my grandkids uses an elderly laptop. He loves it for some reason & won't let us replace it. Based on a roger_m comment, I took Avira off of it & installed Panda Dome free. Poof! It's zippy like a born-again computer. My grandkid thinks I am a genius.

Thanks -- good advice. Actually I installed 2 cloud-based AVs: Panda free & WebrootSafeAnywhere, not free. The 2 together are barely noticeable in terms of resource impact.

SysHardener by NoVirusThanks will prevent certain stuff. OSA will detect/block that stuff if not prevented. My problem with SysHardener is that it blocks some of my 32 bit apps that I have used for years & years. I have tried to switch off various options in SysHardener 1x1 but I guess I didn't find the right ones so, no matter what, it won't allow my old stuff. With SysHardener removed they run just fine.

Since I image daily, I am more interested in detection than in prevention. I run my other computer with no real-time AV at all. Its 5-part security wall consists of just HitmanPro (HMP can only be run on-demand), OSA, ERP, MBAE, & AdInf (file integrity checker -- grrreat for detection no matter what). Worx 4 me!

I run Panda & Webroot on my laptop mostly just so I will have a common interest with their forums.

One of my systems is running Panda Dome, VoodooShield Pro and Sandboxie. Very light and effective.

both of them have the same weaknesses, they don't compliment each other at all. they're both light, but that's it. no sigs, no proper proactive modules.

WSA is a descendent of PREVX. Proactive enuf. Panda? I have no idea -- I take your word on it. But my "composite guard dog" is HMP,OSA, ERP, MBAE, AdInf, & R-DriveImage -- not quite a Rottweiler, perhaps, but not a Poodle either. *puppy*

Sorry to hear that. The same applies to all my few systems. In fact run many useful 32 bit programs carried over from Windows 98SE are fully working such as Madotate 3-D, Winboard Chess etc. and another whole bunch from XP as Winflip 3D, RunMe Launcher etc. which works no more on Win 10 :( neither does FlvPlayer4Free. But be that as it may.

Panda, in what few times I did have an AV, seemed to do well and IMO still "used to be" the lightest of all the flavors. Since swore off all AV's simply because they are of no consequence for my units anymore, however Panda Dome does rank high on the confidence scale so much that it's currently sitting on ready but in storage. For some odd reason I not determined completely yet, I seem to favor it from my brief experiences running it Real-Time.

WSA has a weird way of handling threats, it lets the malware run around and do its thing, monitors it, and after an eternity, maybe blocks it. Terrible practice.
that combo needs a strong signature based light AV, and you're good to go tbh. try ESET out.

I just wonder how Panda free seems to do well in tests while I`ve never seen it`s BB in action ever ?

Anyway Immunet (cloud) is lighter with better sigs than WSA imo.

Doubt you would need two cloud av`s with all that going on in the background, you should feel very secure.

    Less Rottweiler more Tyrannosaurus Rex.

    Regards Eck:)

Yes, & I have heard that, in some cases, WSA writes records of what a malware does on your system so that WSA can "roll it back" if necessary. But that's hearsay. To my knowlege WSA has not disclosed a step by step description of their processes -- nor should they.

@ Eck. I believe you're right. With my guard dog, as described in post #43, I don't think I absolutely need any patrolling AV. I am VERY fond of HitManPro AV, however. It is strictly on-demand. It has no patrolling capability whatsoever. But HMP reportedly has industrial strength BB guns. Also, many folks overlook the value of a file integrity checker (I use AdInf). AdInf makes a hash of each file -- up to LAN64, if desired. It can spot even the most teeny tiniest changes in a file. It might sound like it would involve a lot of work reviewing an integrity checker's data, but it isn't IF & ONLY IF you do it daily while the stuff you did that day is still fresh in your mind.

By the way, Panda did really well in AV Comparatives August Test. In fact, Panda has done well on all the tests I've seen in the past several months. Now, if they would only get a better looking icon for the system tray -- the icon they use now looks like a #2 pool ball (a 2 ball is blue) that a rat bit a chunk out of.

Panda free does well where exactly? @harlan4096 is living the daily nightmare throwing proper samples at a VM "protected" by Panda.
    Code:

I find it a laughing stock how Panda's application control, which is basically a whitelist based anti-exe still manages to let malware through.

what does rolling back do when the malware already siphoned all your info and sent to the c&c server.

these "tests" are like throwing marshmallows at riot police officers in their gear.

Yes I understand the addition of a very light cloud AV to compliment your multi layered setup but why two ?

See above in the Bellgamin quoted post.

I'm testing Panda Dome Premium... their Application Control module works quite well, but it only blocks exe files... protection <> malicious scripts is still weak...

Exactly, Panda free does not include App control...
