Size of the Blocked Alert-Notification Dialogue is size worthy and appropriate IMO-however upon auto-closing after completing a Block Alert it exhibits a tendency to briefly stall or to be more precise just slow in fading until clear from the desktop screen. The transparency transition effect lingers longer than needed. I believe v3 the Blocked Alert Box instantly closed after x period of showing details-

Perhaps @novirusthanks should make a slider where we can modify the notification window's size, I mean it's 2018 cmon, we can create an AI that beats the world's best GO player, which has more than 10 ^ 100 (that's ten to the power of 100, so ten multiplied by itself a hundred times, 10 * 10 * 10...) possible positions on the board, yet we still don't have such basic features on a program like a simple slider

I'm not sure what you're talking about @EASTER since I use NVT ERP with "Do not auto-close notification dialog" checked, as well as "Perform an action after N minutes of inactivity:" unchecked

Unneeded. ERP was always simple and clean in its GUI.

I think the notification window is too big... And I'm sure (at least some) other people think so too, it surely can't hurt to add a slider right

If a notification window's gonna be THAT big, I expect it to be something REALLY important, like a tornado that's 10 meters away from me, not some process :D

probably, but no need a slider for that.

I mean, if you know a way to control the size of the notification window with our thoughts, I'd like to hear that :D

Personally I've tried, but it seems like the window just doesn't listen to me, I don't understand what's wrong with it...

    it is called:

@novirusthanks could you make the parameters of the notification window available (so modifiable) in the config file?

not sure it would be possible. tough

That's not TOO bad idea of an idea (either), but I like mind-controlling more :D

    (Great idea btw :thumb: )

Does anyone happen to know what this thing does in the radarpro.conf file?

    Code:
      "oDPath":
      [
        "C:\\Users\\User\\Desktop\\",
        "C:\\Utilities\\No Virus Thanks\\",
        "C:\\Users\\User\\Desktop",
        "C:\\Users\\User\\Desktop",
        "C:\\Users\\User\\Desktop",
        "C:\\Windows\\SystemApps\\ShellExperienceHost_cw5n1h2txyewy\\",
        "C:\\Users\\User\\Desktop"
      ]

I decided to take a look at that file to see what I can do there and I found that ^

Ofc I could always delete it and see what changes, but I prefer to begin by asking

@Floyd 57- Naturally you won't understand because it is a minor annoyance as I already made mention of-as in non critical.

And only involves low RAM machines that make certain GUI transparent effects/features exhibit slower behavior than others depending on how much of it is used at a certain given moment of operation.

I also have checked that box before but you must remember too we are examining all aspects of each working detail for @novirusthanks to review and make decisions on.

More things I noticed in ERP Build 28:
    • Bug: after a computer restart my "Trusted Vendors" list was suddenly completely empty (I didn't even add any custom ones)
    • Usability: Expression builder: it would be nice if the "Command Line" was multiline, as these can be pretty long (also I can't reach the cutoff part using the arrow buttons)
    • Usability: Expression builder: clicking a textbox should already enable the field
    • Usability: Rules Window: "expression" should be split into multiple columns (e.g. Proc.Name, Proc.Signer etc.) for better sorting
    • Usability: Rule Editor: remember last used category (maybe as an option, or have a user-settable default category)
    • Usability: Rule Editor: maybe use 4 Buttons with icons for the actions (saves one click). guess there is even enough space for labels...
    • Feature: Expression builder: have "Working directory" as a criterion (if that is possible)
    Thanks a lot!

Sorting thru a different kind of quirky thing again. Will have to dig into it a little deeper which means more often reboots to gather more info-finding, but I run a cmd file from the StartUp folder. I have it Excluded however it calls on another command prompt which is Alerted on which is ok with me, however before I can catch it to ALLOW then set Customize Rule it flies away. (Only wish the closing Block Alert was that fast) :isay:

Will reply back when or if it persists when I feel like doing a series of new reboots again :D

    Here is a new v4.0 (pre-release) test29:
    https://downloads.novirusthanks.org/files/exe_radar_pro_4_setup_test29.exe

*** Please do not share the download link, we will delete it when we'll release the official v4 ***

    Build 29
+ Improved "Excluded Processes" window (Settings->Manage Exclusions for Blocked Notifications)
+ Fixed When I have a password set and use the "Tray menu -> Protection Modes -> Protection Disabled" I get a password-prompt before seeing the options.
+ Fixed Numbers on Home tab (like for Total Rules, Proceses Analyzed, etc) should be formatted with a , example 1000 -> 1,000
+ Fixed Exported rules and Trusted Vendors List are now exported in Unicode format
+ Fixed Importing of rules and Trusted Vendors List do not force the imported file to be in Unicode format
+ Now the application automatically creates daily backups of everything (rules, Trusted Vendors List, settings, etc) to the Backup folder
+ On the Home tab there is the button "Open Backup Manager" that allows you to easily select and import backup archives
+ * After you have imported a backup archive, you need to manually restart EXE Radar Pro (Tray icon -> Exit, then run EXE Radar Pro)
+ On the Home tab there is a new button "Export All Data" that allows you to manually backup/export all data to the Backup folder
+ On the Home tab there is a new button "Open Backup Folder" that opens the Backup folder
+ Added new signers to default list of Trusted Vendors List
+ Improved "Allow Known Safe Process Behaviors"
    + Minor fixes and improvements

To install it, first uninstall the previous build, then reboot (not really needed but may help), and install the new build.

Thanks everyone for the feedbacks/suggestions, we've wrote them in the todo list and will check them asap.

Will reply to some previous questions on Monday.

    Expected this. Great mention-reminder @novirusthanks

There are instances all over in many programs where a simple program restart, resets the internal layout of an app so that the new changes seat to expectations, because if not, the change won't show. A sort of flush and reset action that's required given Windows current code structure.

Many thanks over for another new version-more improvements too :thumb:

I tried out build 29, and something unexpectedly good happened.
I have complained before that certain programs -- particularly Foxit Reader -- launch slowly.
This time, when launching Foxit Reader, I got a prompt for Foxit updater. I don't think I ever got that prompt before. Now that I allowed the updater, Foxit Reader launches with proper speed. :)

    @novirusthanks

Andreas, could you do something about this folder path?
    C:\Users\MrX\AppData\Roaming\RadarPro\*

I really don't like to have many folders scattered across my systems.

As matter of fact if you could do something with the rest?
    C:\Program Files\NoVirusThanks\EXERadarPro\* OK

    C:\ProgramData\NoVirusThanks\EXE Radar Pro\*
    move into
    C:\Users\MrX\AppData\Roaming\NoVirusThanks\*

So we'll end with two paths only:
    C:\Program Files\NoVirusThanks\EXERadarPro\*
    and
    C:\Users\MrX\AppData\Roaming\NoVirusThanks\*

thank you so much for your hard work as always.

Appdata is there so that every user's config can be different, program data is there so that non-admin can write to it, they can't write to program files by default, you should complain to microsoft about this

    @novirusthanks I think best would be like: 1 000 | 10 000 | 100 000 000 etc. without comma, looks much better than 1,000 | 10,000 | 100,000,000

Then the advantage of having a "central place" for the ruleset/logfiles/backup (all users have access to the same ruleset, backup,...) is gone.

If these files are stored independently in each user directory and you have for example added some important rules in one user account, you'll need to login into other user accounts and add them there too.
And sooner or later you'll end up with different rulesets and backups.

Storing them in C:\Program Files\NoVirusThanks\EXERadarPro\* is not an appropiate place, so i think storing them in C:\ProgramData\NoVirusThanks\EXE Radar Pro\* is still the best place.

    Fine.

    Then
C:\Program Files\NoVirusThanks\EXERadarPro\* (main exes and dlls)
    and
C:\ProgramData\NoVirusThanks\EXE Radar Pro\* (conf file, logfiles, ruleset, backup, etc)
is the best way forward, do you agree?

But there are some user-specific settings. For instance, I have my own user account set to "Alert mode", and the wife's user account set to "Lockdown mode". (Please don't sue me for domestic abuse :) )
Maybe that's why it has an appdata folder. Just guessing.

The question is if the config file should also be moved to the ProgramData directory.
At the moment each user can have its own config file (c:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\NoVirusThanks\RadarPro.conf) and users can configure settings in the Settings tab (or the Protection Mode #7243) differently.
There is still a need for user-specific settings in the users-directory.

^ why not make it a whole lot easier and let the user decide where to put it ?

I don’t like that much stuff writing to my C: anyway because of it being on a SSD (and No I am not moving C:\users)
