I received a reply from EaseUs. They told me to disable Windows Defender while installing EaseUs. I replied that I wasn't comfortable doing that. They then told me to use powershell to change the digit of the pup to 0, which seemed to me the same as disabling WD. I told them I would wait until they got their problem fixed. Not a confidence-building experience! Plus, one of the emails was in Chinese....

Today, I received this from EaseUs:

    "Hi John,

    Thanks for your reply.
We are sorry this is only solution at present.
Please trust our product and install our product with disabling Windows Defender.

    Sincerely,
    Ken
    EaseUS Customer Service Department".

What a way to run a business!

Here's one forum member's take. If their product comes bundled I would overstate my position on that disapproval of such practice with them because frankly, a quality partition/backup product needs not resort to even distributing their software merchandise to outsourced servers that tamper with their programs to begin with IMO. And that's all that is, just an opinion.

I don't see this as an issue. I have to disable security software for most install/uninstalls

Seriously, Pete? I would rather not run such software, unless "such software" is keygen or the like lol.

Of course, to each their own.

Yes seriously. If I didn't disable Appguard for instance, I couldn't install anything. Same is true with ERP v3 in Lockdown. Same also with MZwritescanner. That is why I am very careful about what I install

Good question then. Would you install or have you once already installed EaseUS Todo Backup Free 11?

Some of us are curious if with any of these EaseUS programs if there is a genuine risk that bundling is included as an option or what the consensus is on that.

If I was uninstalling every thing I disable would disabled before I start. But that is a different issue then bundling other software.

Windows Defender threat indicated is: "PUA:Win32/PulseCore Severe" I just don't feel like getting involved with something that can mess up my pc. EaseUs can surely find another way to get $ without infecting their customers?

Odd but i'm sure a more exact match is around but this is from a simple google search the first item that came up on this end looking for PUA:Win32/PulseCore Severe

Thanks for editing - sorry I didn't put url on post - will do so in future.

BTW, Emisoft Emergency Kit, Malwarbytes 3.51, nor HitmanPro found anything wrong with EaseUs for including this in the download. Go figure....

Well, still you can hardly expect it simply an exaggeration or false positive coming from the machine WD is ramped up to become lately. The disturbing aspect This application is a bundling software that is known to install other potentially unwanted application (PUA),

I went ahead and installed EaseUS Todo Backup Home 11.5 and it is working well. I like it. I also then deleted the PUA which I had to allow in order to install EaseUs, and after numerous checks for malware and virus, nothing is showing - and Easus is running fine. I guess this was just a minor diversion which can be overcome.
