Hi HeiDef, A user from our forum reported the following error: https://prnt.sc/k5rq0g Can you please take a look? Thanks.
@HiDef Sorry, it somehow managed to auto start with Windows start now However, the splash screen stays there until I minimize it manually. Can the splash screen be made to close automatically after a few seconds? Or how about having an Enable/Disable feature for the splash screen on start up? Thanks
That's a simple fix to minimize the screen. Probably should of done that initially. We'll hopefully get an update out shortly.
Thanks for the notice about this. That's a strange error. Either MinerOff didn't install properly, which doesn't seem likely, or they are missing the VC++ redist files. That's also strange because many programs rely on those files and are generally already on the system. Unlike our other installers, we didn't include them with MinerOff because it adds about 20MB to the size. But they can be downloaded from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads MinerOff needs the x64 versions but it doesn't hurt to install the x86 version as well. Ask that user to try this to see if it fixes the problem.
@HeiDef The latest version has a problem (for me) after a reboot with "mining protection disabled" (four different systems on Win 10). This i have noticed from opening from the system tray and trying to enable protection but it always says it is disabled and trying to enable protection it goes back to disabled.
Sorry, I just checked mine although I have been using since Aug 7 It's DISABLED on start up even though I checked 'Start with Windows'. I need to enable it after Windows start up .............I thought all these while I was protected.
Can you open an elevated command prompt and type 'sc query HDProcMon2' without the quotes with MinerOff running? I'm curious if the driver is not loading for some reason.
The Driver appears to be loading. Could it be that "Enable or Disable" are round the wrong way? My setting's : Here are the results from the Comand Prompt :
No. Enable/Disable is correct but when it toggles on during startup, the UI isn't updated correctly but it is enabled. So, @NiteRanger you were protected even though the UI was showing disabled. We'll get an update out shortly.
Hi @HeiDef I downloaded the latest file from your website https://www.heidef.com/products/mineroff/index.html It says it's a x64 file. How to run this file?
Hi HeiDef, I decided to test MinerOff but it was unstable on my system and I had to uninstall it: Here are some of the errors: Also, sometimes when minimized the program didn't minimize to the tray but on the left side in the upper taskbar instead. A restart of the program fixed the issue. And finally the uninstaller left a lot of remnants that should be deleted manually. Regards, Georgi
Thanks Georgi. Never seen the first error before. What version of Windows are you running? The second error probably is related to the third which seems to be caused by something with the UI. It's a peculiar error because it looks to be a .NET issue and might be connected to the minimization issue you also mention. Probably also difficult to reproduce unless display settings match. And finally, what remnants were left over? The driver gets queued to be removed at the next reboot and I believe the uninstaller also queues itself to be removed as well. So, did you reboot and was it files or just the folder structure?
Hi HeiDef, I am using Windows 8.1 x64 (fully updated including KB4507422 as well). My display settings are as follows (if that is what you means) => https://i.imgur.com/rZNFaN8.png And for the remnants I don't remember if I rebooted the PC after the uninstall but I believe I did. I had to delete the following manually: Thanks! Regards, Georgi
