I received it too. But I have an AMD processor for which there is no BIOS update mitigation. Go figure?

Received offer to install KB4023057 on my 1709. Decided to hide it, google-fu mention this was used before to force users to update to 1709. Seems like Microsoft want to use this again to force update to 1803.

    What's wrong with 1803?

Nothing any more so than any other build. It's better than 1709 was. People just resent being "forced to update".

I've had issues with it at my job. Due to that, we are on 1709.

Seriously, what kind of question is that? Not sure whether you're serious or just trolling. But let me bite.

When people delay installing major update, the reasons are usually because:
    1. They don't need any of the new features.
    2. They want to avoid unexpected issues that might happen after updating (that's why this thread exists in the first place).

Just because someone have no issues after installing 1803, doesn't mean others will have the same experience.
The systems that users run varies greatly (hardware, driver, and also applications that run on their system).

And no, it's not about "resent being forced to update". What does that even mean?
Users have different requirements, not everyone wants to spend time rolling back their installation or troubleshooting problem with broken application/games. Some just want to use their current system (that already runs well).

I understand the need to delay the update for a week or so, but by now any major issue should have been adressed. If one still experiences problems then a clean reinstall would be recommended.

On my main system where I'm always installing and uninstalling software, often new builds fail to install. But, it's important to note, that nothing gets broken, I'm just left with the old build. But on my other systems, the upgrade to new builds always completes and I have never had even a single issue after upgrading. I understand that is not the case for everyone, but surely it is, for the vast majority of users.

On all my systems, no matter what version of Windows is installed, I always install every update, without waiting for feedback first. It has been my experience on many different computers, that at least 99% of the time, I have had absolutely no issues with updates. Once again, yes, I know that some people do have major issues, but this has not been my experience. over many years.

The only time I had serious problems was when upgrading from Win 8 to 8.1, but it wasn't MS' fault. Samsung was reluctant to upgrade some drivers for a long time. With Win 10, MS is running the show and I've never had any problems with updates.

I had the same issue on a Samsung laptop. When running Windows 8.1 and using the touchpad, movement of the mouse pointer was not smooth. I tried several different versions of touchpad drivers, but the issue remained. Under Windows 8, the touchpad worked fine. This was before the release of Windows 10, so I wasn't able try it with that OS.

I mentioned about the update being pushed to my AMD build in reply #4276. That was close to a week ago. Looks like Abrams not as sharp as he used to be.

Unfortunately this is a luxury many don't have, particularly with multimedia, as it would involve epic installations.

If the system is running well, it is best not to mess with it, or it destroys a day of creativity seeking solutions.
