While it was years ago, last time I downloaded and installed from their website there was no way to opt out of OpenCandy. You agree to install it with ImgBurn in their EULA.

You just have to uncheck the box next to Install Opera Browser. I was offered Opera, but the third party software offered, can vary.

Also, if you install Unchecky, it will automatically uncheck the third party offers, from this and many other installers.

At the moment ImgBurn is using FusionCore rather than OpenCandy, but it works the same. With either of then, there is always the option to opt out of installing extra software. Also, FusionCore/OpenCandy are only used to offer the download of third party software when installing software. They do not install anything else on your system.

Microsoft better than Avast, it's time to remove Avast with all the bells and whistles. :thumb:

Okay so it’s just a “wrapped “ download with the option to opt out of the crapware. Even with that option I want nothing to do with that kind of download.

I guess a lot of people fall into that trap. I was in a hurry and somewhat distracted with other matters when I downloaded initially from the first mirror. Only on a fleeting moment did I catch the odd looking file name and the scan comfiirmed it was tainted with pup-ware.

That's understandable, but it's important to note that if you opt out of installing Opera, then only ImgBurn will be installed. These days, you really need to pay attention with just about any software you install, to avoid getting any unwanted extras.
That's why it's best to download from the publisher's site.

    Sorry, my fault.

FWIW, I use WD Security Center in Windows 10 and it did not flag the file. VirusTotal seems to be a nice option for a second opinion, no matter which AV one uses. I can get Trend-Micro for free through my employer but I read too many negative opinions about it.

:thumb: @bigwrench9 I see you have gone down Fury Road to The Thunderdome! :argh: I am stuck with the old software, and it looks like there is no way to upgrade from Panda Global Protection! :(

Panda Global Protection was replaced with Panda Dome Complete and you can use your existing license with it.

I guess it's because in certain tests they get very high "user depended" scores which means they make the user gamble. In order to avoid this, they made the behavior blocker and/or cloud more aggressive. So seems like M$ has got some tweaking to do. BTW, I believe it's the SmartScreen alert that you will get to see when WD can't say for sure if a certain file is malware or not.
