Louis videos are not about anger. He is pretty happy that apple builds crappy hardware, because he repairs it when your Apple Store says they just can't.
They're about unexplainably bad hardware-decisions, repair methods, prices and costumer support by Apple, how extremely greedy they are - despite the high prices.
They're about the right to repair an Apple product - which is what they don't want you to do. Because they even use the government to raid third-party repair shop to literally steal the parts. (For no good reason, really. They fake the reason and government plays with.)
They're also about how Apple user don't realize all this **** and just shuck it away.

And about how you can repair your Mac-Book.
    Anyway, just click through it.

EDIT: Just see this one. Should suffice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?

As an example, he is very critical of certain models of Lenovo ThinkPads, which are what he uses and is quite critical of the touchpads on Windows laptops. Also, you will see him talk about the things which macOS does much better than Windows. He does not bash Apple for the sake of it, he does it because there are models which have major design flaws.

He doesn't talk much about other brands of Windows computers, as he only repairs Macs.

Oh please, how can you take this guy seriously? He obviously has an axe to grind. Just check a few of the top YouTube hits for the guy...
    • Why I don't use Apple products. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfrYOWlKJ_g&feature=youtu.be In this one he largely makes the worn-out, specious argument based around the conceit that his 'experience' and / or his 'way of doing things' is the only valid way. Indeed, he is making for himself the very same argument of which he is accusing Apple. Yes, if you come from Windows (for PCs) or from Android (for phones)... then you will very likely have a learning curve or re-adaptation period when going to an Apple product. The argument that Apple is extremely restrictive in its way of doing things is largely way over-stated and often based upon the false assumptions and limited experience of Windows users trying to use it for a day or a week.

    • The horrible truth about Apple's repeated engineering failures. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUaJ8pDlxi8&feature=youtu.be In this one, he again starts by going off on the "Think Different" advertising campaign from 30 years ago. This beginning is largely a re-hash of the same comments made in the video above. From there, he does go into some of his engineering complaints. And sure, while some those points are valid in some cases... in many others they are skewed due to his own personal biases. For those instances where he does point out an engineering or design flaw, those are often made in reference to hardware from 5 to 10 years ago and made with the grand benefit of hindsight. Are Apple's products perfect? No. Definitely not. No one ever seriously said they were.

    • My problem with the cult of Apple. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hYHwkIuEMo&feature=youtu.be Honestly, I didn't even fully watch this one. He starts by comparing Apple users to communists in Soviet Russia. It was quite over-the-top. It made him look ridiculous. Are there Apple users that standby every product and decision that Apple makes? Sure. There are. All he needed to say was that he doesn't respect the opinions of fanboys, and that he prefers to objectively review products for himself. That's certainly fair. But you can't characterize an entire company, all of their products, or all of their users by the actions and comments of a few. Most Apple consumers may respect many of Apple's designs, but are also nevertheless quick to comment and point out when there are true flaws.

Thanks @Alec for pointing to this particular video. I watched it half way through and then he went back to ranting about Apple users and Soviet Russia again. This is way over-the-top for me.

You have to think about one thing: He is the one who is repairing all of your apple products when even Apple doesn't want to. (And "want" is the issue here)

His standpoint is as rooted as Apples developers.:
He analyses Apples hardware in order to repair it and he was always right when he said that certain things were the issue. (What apple never acknowledged to be the issue, even with IRREFUTABLE PROOF, sometimes the proof is made by Apple THEMSELVES)
I'd say he is more trusted than any other guy who repairs Apple products. And this sentence is valid as it is read, not interpreted.

I understand he works on Apple products and he probably does a good job. There are many other people that work on different computers and do a good job, but for him to label me and all Apple users as a communist in his video is over-the-top. I haven't look at any of his videos yet and I don't believe I will look at any. With Alec pointing to this one video and it was the first I looked at, you know what they say about first impressions. I'm not impressed.

Please see it as the criticism it is.

I have watched many of his videos and it very clear to me that his opinion is an objective one based on his many years experience fixing Apple products. He likes to add humour to his videos, which clearly (based on comments here) can be taken the wrong way, but this does not change the fact that he presents an objective view.

If you watched more than just one or two of his videos, you would see that he very critical of PCs and Android phones (particularly Samsung) at times, so he certainly not only critical of Apple products.

Speaking from my angle from a practical standpoint and an unbiased comment because I'm a user of both platforms - I still have my dual G4 which was the flagship product of that time. The only reason I went Apple was no choice for the software I needed to run. At that same time I got my PC, considered middle of the range spec wise and much much cheaper. The PC had better features such as USB2 vs G4s outdated abysmal USB1.

No problem with the dock here. Hated apples mouse though. I was of the understanding Apples products were more expensive because of higher quality control even though there's 3rd party products in their builds such as the pioneer superdrive. Good QC may well be true as my system was pretty stable though with the software updated to a version that's stretched the G4s capabilities I now get kernel panics if I'm not careful.

What I DONT like to this day is Apple threw up a nag screen on every 5 loads to register online a professional product, which I paid good money to use. Only by locating a script from like minded individuals was I able to nuke the nuisance. I wouldn't trust Apple if you paid me a gazillion dollars. I also don't like the rank fanboism akin to idol worship when it comes to just a hunk of hardware that needs to do a job. A computer has to serve it's purpose for those who pay good money of which Apples products are overpriced.

When I wanted to upgrade my hardware because I love the software I run, I hit a brick wall as they refused for a LONG time to serve their loyal professional community with a computer they could load up with the goodies and instead made them either pay and obscene premium for old outdated stock or purchase the long awaited for offering - behold the ridiculous "ican" - another one of Apples stupid outlandish ideas. It must have gone down as one of the most bitter moments for mac pro users. Unfortunately this was a mere blip on the radar for Apple as they flooded the market with junk products like iphones.

I have played with the MacOS for 10 minutes, and the salesman told me if you remove all the app icons from the dock, you will only get to see the active apps, but this means you can not use it as a launcher anymore. The menu-bar on top acts like the tray-icon bar in Windows, but there is no way to make apps have their separate menu-bar. I also couldn't figure out how the touch-pad on the MacBook exactly worked, but I'm guessing it's not the same. I don't think I could get used to all of this stuff.

Same here. I'm using a Logitech mouse.
I didn't think I would get use to it either. It was hard for me at first to think Mac not Windows when I got the new computer. Now it's hard for me to navigate on a Windows computer and I'm also running 2 Win 7 computers :argh:

Yes about the mouse, only it was a good while before I realized you could even use a 3rd party mouse cuz I naturally thought Apple was such a closed system.

I also don't like all the hype when some new Apple product comes out, especially using secretiveness as a mechanism for a marketing tool. UUUGGGGHH - I am so resistant to these marketing tactics all it does is make me turn off. I can't stand all the needless fluff packaging nightmare either.

I guess it depends what you'd be using your Mac for Rasheed. My situation would be pretty different to someone using it for their main computer where it was used for everything. My Mac was and still is kept offline and only used for a certain purpose. I would really love to update the hardware to match my softwares capability but I resent paying a premium for outdated hardware. Catch22. :(

I'm not sure what the situation is now as my OS is Leopard but I actually loved the dock as I found there were ways you could customize it (make it disappear and appear with a key command - alter the size etc) and I had such a great time with my software, adapting to the Mac took a back seat. However, I actually learned the PC at the same time which did all the other stuff and I loved that too.

I would use it for the same things I do with Windows. The reason why I started thinking about buying a Mac is because of the privacy issues with Win 10.

Depends on what type of user you are, I'm extremely picky about the way software works, even little things can annoy me. For example, I hated it that M$ removed Quick Launch and switched to those stupid pinned buttons.

ProTruckDriver any reason you use SuperDuper instead of Carbon Copy Cloner?

Reality... I assume you are talking about a Power Mac G4... those are circa 2003 - 2004. As you note, macOS 10.5 Leopard released in 2007 was the last to support the G4, as far as I'm aware. So you are referring to 15 year old hardware running a 10 year old OS. That's pretty impressive if you are still running that combo and it does what you need. However, I doubt your Apple Mac experience is comparable to most users; and, no offense, but I'm not sure that you are in the best position to comment upon the relative merits of the latest Mac offerings vs Windows.

Rasheed... you would be surprised what you would get used to. I've used tons of operating systems from MS-DOS, CP/M, and Unix to Windows, macOS, and various distro's of Linux. None were perfect, and none were to be totally dismissed either. Each had a role and a place. This isn't really directed at you as much as others that I have seen comment... but a refusal to maintain an open mind when approaching new hardware or a new OS reflects more about the user than it does about the product. Some people get an ego boost by thinking their product is the only viable and appropriate one for every user and every task. I've seen Windows users, Apple users, Linux users, etc all guilty of it. No one product or brand has a monopoly on ridiculous behavior. If you go back to some of my original posts on this very forum, I used to "defend" Windows from the attacks of Linux users... now I sometimes "defend" macOS from Windows users. It's not because I think, or thought, either was perfect; but more that I don't think either deserve the derision that is sometimes poured upon them. A lot of bright people, smarter than I, have worked and developed these products and operating systems... and I support and respect the efforts of all such individuals. "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants." -- Isaac Newton 1675.

Having said all that... I use Windows 10 every day for work, and macOS 10.13 High Sierra every day personally. I prefer macOS 10.13, but that's largely just it... a preference. There are things that annoy me about both OS's, although there are more personal annoyances I have with Windows than macOS.

Hammer... I also use CCC, but then I've never purchased or used SuperDuper, so I can't comment on the relative merits.

I received a free SuperDuper license from a friend. I'll be trying Carbon Copy Cloner soon to compare the two.

Lol. Mac's and MacOS isn't going anywhere. I've used Windows, multiple GNU/Linux distros and a few versions of macOS/OSX and Macs truly are a delight to use. Didn't google get rid of a LOT of Windows machines to go with Macs? I love running GNU/Linux distros, but, if I had to choose a desktop OS it would be macOS hands down.

So... he is okay because he criticizes everything?

No offense, Roger, but my attitude toward pan-all critics is much the same as a dog's attitude toward a tree.

He definitely doesn't criticise, just for the sake of it, he is only critical of products when they have serious design flaws or terrible customer support. If you were to watch a number of his videos, you would see that.

After all the issues spoken of @ wilders (and other places) concerning trying to lock W10 down, no one can be blamed for wanting to look elsewhere. I think in the final analysis everyone has to ask themselves the question of what they're prepared to do about the horrendous privacy and security issues confronting us all and from all angles, whether M$ Apple or Linux. Of course to do that we have to figure out stuff like how much time we're prepared to spend on all this to pick our poison. Personally, I consider privacy is of the utmost importance. There are some things I will not do online because even with distributed trust, 100% trust is not possible. Then there's other scenarios that might make a difference such as what these companies actually stand for and how much that matters to you.

Yes it's a Dual Power Mac G4 and very ancient now. I think you're right about Leopard being the last supported OS. It does what I need BUT as I said, I would love to update the hardware to match the capabilities of the software. There are workarounds but those can be time consuming and counter productive. A reason I didn't update my Mac earlier was unfortunately I was at (or near) the end of a line before a major architecture change. That mattered for quite some time, because I didn't want to have to purchase another peripheral to accommodate the new specs.

I agree about users from all platforms attacking one another in a way that seems to me is a waste of time. However I also think fair comment shouldn't be dismissed either and that can be a minefield depending on how many angles people are looking at it from. Granted, my Mac use is not the norm but then neither is my Windows. Insofar as the Mac vs M$ thing I won't get polarized into an either or situation. It's each on its merits. Where practical usage is concerned my view is I pay money for something to do something for me. As long as both parties get what's agreed to then that is that. Over and above that, there are other things that matter such as what I said to rasheed, and that privacy is very important to me. I trust neither M$ nor Apple in this, nor Ubuntu for that matter. I've somewhat fiddled with certain distros of Linux and still consider myself a noob but because privacy matters I'm pursuing that avenue more seriously now. If I was to get another(new) Mac, it will have the same task like before and not go near the internet. Considering the way things are going with cloud computing I don't know if that would rule me out. If it wasn't for the software I run on the Mac, I wouldn't consider getting another one. There's certainly a lot of bright people behind all these platforms, but even so, that's not all there is to consider in the broad scheme of things.
