Lightest av that I use for XP is Immunet V5(Clam disabled), K meleon browser run sandboxed and OSArmour. Which runs as snappy as my latest Win 10 laptop on only 500mb of ram. Regards Eck

Kaspersky free seemed to work relatively fine on friends XP pc with 2gigs of RAM and core2duo era Pentium (or as much as can be expected on such hardware).
It's ridiculous to say it's ridiculous. It's like going to a Hawaiian Luau & complaining "Hey, why all this Hawaiian food?" Read the title of the thread. It's an XP question, so -- Please! -- either lead, follow, or find another hobby. My desktop is on 24/7 & has been running XP from the get-go of XP. No AV. I image so the rare problem merely needs Restore & -- poof! It's gone. My laptop is on W7 which expires from MS support in 2020. I fully expect the MS FUD patrol to be posting your type of post when that occurs. For XP, I like Comodo FW with cruelsister's settings. It's pretty much all you need.
I highly recommend switching to an alternative. Development of the English version, stopped three years ago. Also, it has had major issues with false positives lately, which I see regularly when scanning files at VirusTotoal. A lot of clean files, get wrongly detected as Win32.Trojan.WisdomEyes. 360 Total Security or Total Security Essential, would be a good replacement. It has a similar user interface and receives regular program updates. Also, quite possibly it will be lighter and doesn't have nearly as many issues with false positives. There are other options too, but 360 is similar to Baidu, which may be a plus.
Yes, same here - never had a problem since the beginning of XP, in fact never had a problem since MSDos ! So I really don't agree with a lot of the panic comments on this thread.
Agree. Running old Dell Latitude D420 here with XP PRO SP3 and POS registry hack. Works well with Kerio 2.1.5, AvastFREE and Scotty on Patrol. No reason to upgrade to W7 and not good for W10. Tks for listening.
