I normally don't follow the developments of this one very often but isn't he like hanging on by thread? I mean, years in one single place like that and what if Ecuador decides to end the asylum on some whim or something. The guy is bound to be growing old and am surprised as anyone it's lasted as long as it has.

If "they" really wanted to take out people like Assange (and other high profile so-called whistle-blowers) they would've done so long before now.

He's been there 6 years. He probably would have done less time in Sweden if he was found guilty, but Sweden have dropped their investigation. He can still be / will be arrested for breaking bail though... and America may still want to have a chat with him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets kicked out of Equator's embassy at some point.

Good, maybe he'll get to learn the world doesn't revolve around him. If you do trhe crime, you gotta do the time. 6 years for jumping bail in a luxury embassy suite doesn't count against your ultimate sentence either. At least when he goes to a proper jail, he'll get all the consentless sex he can handle. He could have applied for asylum at the embassy of the small eastern European state of Paranoia, but chose not to.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Initially I thought wikileaks was trying to be altruistic, but now I don't know. In any case being a "whistle blower" can be dangerous.

I think the consensus is, Assange was being set up and there never was any consentless sex.

While your conversation is going against the TOS like that head-wall emoji :D - I think it isn't very surprising that the UK of all country wants to see a whistle-blower in jail. They're just saving their ***** later when it comes to their own whistle-blowers, by creating an example now.

Another episode in todays zany world of technological drama. This one is rather unique in so many ways and such. I have no pro or con opinion either way on any of the dude's activities since it already is amazing to me that he's outlasted all sorts of manner of everything thrown his way but authorities are likely licking their chops on this one. Kind of a 007 in the open in one respect-espionage data drama in another fashion etc. Is why I don't have the time or energy to draw any conclusions except that what happens will happen whatever way it ends up being. Classic drama if you ever seen one.

Ecuador wanted to make Julian Assange a diplomat and send him to Moscow
Reuters: UK's Foreign Office did not accept diplomatic status, so plan was scuttled.

    Whatta saga!!

This has all the drama as any 007 Bond film Ian Fleming Novel to date. Anticipation on which difficulty comes next is even more enhanced given events swirling since it began.

The UK refuses to rcognisehis 'Diplomatic' status, so he's back to square one. If he hadn't been a horse's posterior, and run, he'd probably be a free man now, instead he's STILL in the prison he made for himself. I'd guess Ecuador will be booting him out on the street soon, where he can settle things himself.

Exactly what it looks like. This is been one of those for the ages. However it's been rather tame as far as people disappearing or worse, or some angry mob either demanding his noggin or partying in support of him and "the cause" and stirring up a public fervor.

The local public is seemed to have taken a whatever happens happen mentality. But wow what a long drawed out ordeal chalked full of rumor, possibility, and social mayhem.
