They still nag us in the USA, or at least they did as of a week or two ago when I finally uninstalled. But then again I think Avast has admitted to nagging USA users more, because evidently we are all rich.
I do think it's cool that Avast is at least open about it, I suspect other major AV companies are doing the same. But I also think this type of behavior is unacceptable, AV's shouldn't monitor visited websites, no matter if this info is "anonymized" or not. Seriously, I would be willing to pay 10 euros a year for a browser and AV that doesn't spy on users. A bit crazy if you think about that these apps have no business trying to collect all of this info in the first place. Same goes for the OS, but it's a shame that AV companies have ruined their trustworthiness out of pure greed. I've just read that in Holland they still use nag-screens in Avast Pro versions, I wonder what's up with that.

Why is there no thread titled "Avast 2018"? "Damn it, Jim, I'm a doctor, not a forum jockey." QUESTIONS: Avast 2018 has a component for checking & updating all the drivers in one's computer. Has anyone used it? Is it effective & *safe*?
It's a rebrand of DriverUpdate from Slimware Utilities (and is the same as AVG Driver Updater) and it usually finds much fewer driver updates, than many of the alternatives. As a result, I don't recommend it. Unfortunately, all driver update software, will on occasion, install incompatible drivers, which won't work and will need to be rolled back to the previous driver, from Device Manager. I recommend Wise Driver Care and DriverHub. They both have a very large database of drivers and for the most part, do a good job of providing the compatible drivers. DriverHub is free. The free version of Wise Driver Care, can install any driver updates it finds, you just have to do it, one driver at a time, rather than being able to update every driver, in one go.
Per your post, I latched on to Wise Driver Care. Works smooth as a baby's butt. It found & fixed a lot of outdated drivers. Very slow at downloading... I would buy the PRO for its extra speed but drivers don't get outdated very often... or do they? Anyhow -- my computer was working great before I got Wise. Then I did the Wise thing & updated a bunch of drivers. And now my computer is still working great, but no greater than other-Wise. Bloody ungrateful laptop -- why did I even bother?
Some drivers get updated often, but for many, there are only occasion updates. Also, often old hardware, will no longer receive driver updates. If you have very old drivers installed, then driver update software may be able to find a more recent driver. But, this new driver, may have been the last driver release for that hardware, so there will be no further updates. Often, updating drivers won't make your computer run faster, despite the claims of publishers of driver update software. Also, there is usually no need to have the very latest drivers installed. The one exception to that, is video drivers as often new video drivers will increase video performance. I find software like Wise Driver Care, to be very useful for running, after doing a clean install of Windows, to find any drivers for any devices that Windows was not able to install drivers for and to replace generic Windows drivers with the OEM ones, which will usually have more features.

would be cool if it didn't register keystrokes, and that overseer.exe is checking something along with bugreport service running in parallalel, despite unchecking ''privacy'' boxes it still collects something on its own other than that good software, running it on offline machines
