Why does "Clone Disk" require a restart?

This makes it not very usefull for servers where uptime is critical.

I mean it can already "live" backup so why the restart? Seems like is missing out. Any other product that can clone a live disk?

 

FYI: Paragon Exact Image does live cloning. However its not as fast as Acronis generally very slow clone and backup times.

We are really sorry for the inconveniences.

The thing is that Windows cannot handle two drives with identical SID and it will change the SID of the target drive and this drive will become unbootable. So it won't be a clone anymore.

However, I will include this feature in our Enhancement List and our Development Team will discuss the ability of doing live clone.

Ok thanks, you sound like you know more about SID's than me so I trust you guys will come up with something.

Maybe you can have a "virtual SID" or something to fool windows.
