Advanced apologies if the subject title is considered vulgar; trust me I could have used other F related words here. Anyway with that said, I'm wondering if there is away to get around Google CAPTCHA's when using a VPN? First, I'm guessing no. As I understand it, MANY people are using the same IP to access Google etc, so naturally they need to protect against that. However, if they actually worked without taking a sledgehammer to my patience, and I'm a pretty patient person to begin with, that'd be swell. First of all, the street signs NEVER work, like never. Whether I get the square that have every part, or just the signs and not the poles, or just the polls, or click on the little chunk of the sign in another square or don't click on it at all, I refresh right past the street signs because again, they never work. Store front's aren't much better. The cars \ buses are usually reliable BUT, I need to go through and get at least a couple \ few of them correct before I get through. Trust me I get every square with a car and or bus and it still takes a few more tries. Oh and the best part? Each square loads really slow, even when the VPN speed is just fine. So clearly I'm venting a bit, and am guessing (hoping?) I'm not alone in this. This might not even be the proper forum but the problem is clear, CAPTCHA's are a PIMA! So with all that said, is there a way around this? A trick? App \ program? Will another VPN service do the trick? Or do I just have to put up with it and or keep turning my VPN on and off when this happens? Either way, let me focus on my breath for a second, and then go break some cinder blocks in my court and punch some frozen hunks of meet in a freezer, because I just transported back to 1980's Philly with Rocky.
I'm using MullVad VPN for some months now and haven't encountered CAPTCHA yet. OTOH I get them constantly when using TOR. So it might be related to specific IP addresses and how they are used.
Your venting? You ought to see how mad I get I hope the capture people get in car wreck and get to take a real close look at the road and street signs and cars and store fronts right before they go face first into all of it.
I get them without using a vpn and they drive me to despair. Multiple attempts are always needed regardless of the fact that all correct blocks are chosen. Whoever invented that system deserves to be in jail quite frankly - unless it`s a site I absolutely need to access, Ill click away.
I wonder if its an attempt by google to force users to turn VPN's off, a kinda grind them down and hope they forget to turn them back on for the rest of the session.
Yes, it's very hard to use Google via Tor, because of the CAPTCHAs. Especially using Tor browser. However, if you use the lowest (default) security setting, and temporarily allow scripts in NoScript, you'll get CAPTCHAs that can actually be completed. It's less common to get CAPTCHAs with VPNs, using regular browsers. But as with Tor, allowing scripts also makes them solvable. If you don't want to do that, just use DDG or StartPage. StartPage by default relies mainly on Google, and you can force that in DDG. Also, some sites just plain 100% block access via Tor or VPNs. The only way around that, if you want anonymity, is to use a private VPN as the last hop in your nested chain. And being careful not to burn it down through misuse
What's the VPN you using? Only from personal experience with the new Google CAPTCHA I'll give my input: - If you're using a popular (mainly free) VPN, then you'll get to encounter those captcha's a lot, worse if you're using Tor, as stated, or a browser extension VPN (proxy). - Try to wait for few seconds after the page completely loads, then move your mouse around the page as if you're looking at things, I believe at some level the mouse capture is used to determine if it's a bot or human. if it works it will let you in just after ticking the option. (doesn't always work) Choose either less popular VPN, or better choose a reliable VPN with lots of servers, use the least populated ones and you should be fine. I use NordVPN and can't recall having an issue like this.
I rarely see them with IVPN. But yes, you see them a lot with free VPNs. It basically depends on how much abuse, which is what gets IP addresses on lists.
I rarely get capchas. I always thought it would only happen if someone who had the same server /ip as you was doing something like spamming. it says unusual traffic. I change server and the captchas go
Okay everyone great stuff, lot of passion so far! So first yes, I’m guessing it has to be the over usage of the IP’s from the VPN I use… Second, good to know I’m not alone, and that even when you get them right, it still takes multiple attempts… Third YES, I very much agree that Google could be pushing us to do that because God forbid if they can’t catalogue every last thing about every last person. Also yes, maybe I should just try another SE, and see if I’d have similar issues. And yeah, I mean I understand that some sites will just block you completely and I don’t mind turning it off then… But it’s the randomness of the CAPTCHA’s, let alone going mobile with my laptop and then hooking it back up to LAN and getting the CAPTCHA, or having to go through it whenever I turn the VPN off and on. Either way I’m guessing this isn’t solvable without trying either another VPN or SE!
@guest what you need is a vpn with dedicated ip. however, if you're using the vpn to blend into the crowd, shared ip is the way to go.
Sometimes when I change the VPN IP/Country, I get the annoying CAPTCHA's. I changed from Google search to DuckDuckGo and do not see the captcha's now.
@imdb - Yeah I think I like the second, and am guessing the first would still have issues! @yashkhan - Yep, I don't really ever change countries, but looks like getting away from the G may be the way to go!
