I always try to give the best advice based on my current knowledge, you either take it or leave, I could not care less. :p

As for Panda, my tests proved to be reliable, not mention youtube tests. On the side note, it is the only AV, which has got 100% in AV-Comparatives real-world tests in Jul-Nov 2017.

I agree about Panda, it is very light. I've even run it on a seriously under powered laptop with only 1Gb of RAM. I've used other free AV's but Panda is the only one I feel confident recommending as a viable free AV these days.

Ad-Aware Free is the lightest Antivirus? In any other test it has poor performance.

If you do, I recommend switching off Panda News if you don't want systems tray pop-ups.

And switch on 'Ask before neutralising a virus' just in case of false positives.

I've been really wanting to use Panda Dome for awhile, the only problem I have is I have noticed that 95% of it's detections are on-execution. What gives? does this AV not have on access/on creation scanning?

[QUOTE="The rest is just too bloated with junk or ADs like Bitdefender." [/QUOTE]

The Bitdefender freebie ("BF") will on occasion kick out a pomo invite to upgrade to the pay grade premium version once every 12 --- 15 days or so. (Your mileage may very.) But to suggest that "BF" is laced with, to quote, "...too bloated with junk or ADs..." is disingenuous at best.

In Bitdefender-free you can disable this occasional offers.
Simply turn it off, under account settings.

@Hiltihome Thank you for your prompt reply as I will take advantage of that optional setting and turn it off immediately.

Panda does not have automatic update on new major version. (for example from 18.3 to new "Dome version - 18.4 or 18.5..) It is no go for me. I just do not want to check Panda website to see if there is new major version of the programme online. No way. All other free AVs have autoupdate to new major version, but not Panda.

Why bother with bugs, ads, annoying pop ups and idiotic launchers if you can have Windows Defender for free? No, I've never ever been infected with malware since many years ... :thumb:

Comodo Cloud AV here. No bugs that I have found. No ads. No launchers. No pop ups. Good AV, a sandbox for the unknowns and no issues on my system at all. All for free.

I agree. I have tried CCAV and CFW and before I used to find CCAV impacted my PC, but now it seems lighter than CFW to me. They must have done something to the latest build. I think it's also easier to set up: I checked block incoming and outgoing in the sandbox settings, and that's it. Not sure why that isn't default? Would love to see a test from Meghan against something really nasty to assuage my concerns over it not being as good as CFW.

On youtube you can find a video where an MBR ransomware bypassed CCAV: www. youtube . com/ watch?v=aJuJOzxqYOQ
That guy claimed to have bypassed CIS too, but on the video you can see that he allowed a file to run outside the sandbox: www. youtube . com/ watch?v=Kf2r1x0jYLg
I used CCAV too, but I found it slowed down internet browsing, plus CPU and I/O rate had spikes sometimes... not sure if that's related with my PC.
Meghan doesn't like CCAV, but CIS (especially the FW module) can break Windows 10 after a major upgrade or a patch Tuesday update

    Hi all,
I've just joined up here after reading this thread to compliment all participants on the information. Thank you!
According to some of you, Panda is a good choice for the 2-in-1 I have because it's light on resources and a good antivirus. I'm running Windows Defender now and I'm looking for something more efficient.
My question is, is the auto update problem fixed?
