Emojis are currently not supported; stationary is still very basic (blue or orange background). However, new features are still added from thime to time.

I don't agree with the developer about not mentioning it in the Changelog (aka ReadMe). I see bug fixes mentioned etc. I guess I'm old fashion ....

 

Since OEClassic is using OpenSSL 1.0.2 at some moment in the near future it has to be upgraded to OpenSSL 1.1.1.

I'm pretty sure the developers are aware of it. If full support for v1.0.2 will continue until the end of this year, the developers still have plenty of time before they upgrade to v1.1.1. For the time being, they probably focus their attention on the development and improvement of their email client, which is definitely the right thing to do.

 

Hi all.
I'm new to this forum because I recently started to use OE Classic.
In the past I used Dreammail because I wanted a replacement for Outlook Express.
Worked fine for a while but support and updates stopped long time ago and bugs were not solved anymore.

So I used Microsoft Office > Outlook, worked of course but I was not happy with it.
I searched for a easy to use, clean emailclient that has the possibility to make identities and login dialog like
Outlook Express had.
I tried several but no identities until I found OE Classic.

Like OE Classic very much so I deleted the Microsoft Office crab completely and use Libre Office now, it's great and free ! Enough for everything I want to do with it.

There are are still a few bugs ( I use OE Classic Pro 2.9 (4-9-2018 ) but support is fine and very quick and always willing to help.
Most important for me is that the MAILTO Protocol still does not work because of a bug in the installer.
Also some translations are not in Dutch yet ( identity login = English, the Identity manager in the programme is Dutch ) but that's not such a big problem and Zvoko told me they are working on it.

Maybe someone has a registery fix for the MAILTO problem for now ?
I know I can copy the mailto link on a webpage and extract the email address and paste it in the to field but thats not the way it should be.

The installer should register the programme correct in Windows to make it the defauld email client, I think
it's the first thing to do.

 

Agreed. You should therefore address all issues directly to the developers. They will be more than pleased to help you. I'm sure they will find a solution to your problem.

Thank you for all of the information posted within this thread. It is extremely helpful. I am going to purchase Outlook Express Classic (OE Classic) for my 86-year old mother who still uses email on a daily basis. This looks like the perfect option for elderly people who have used Outlook Express for years and years and are comfortable with it. I have just moved her from a 2005 Windows XP machine (it lasted 13 years, baby!) to a new beautiful new machine with a nice clean install of Windows 10 on an SSD. Beautiful new monitor, too. (I treat her well.) I have a backup of all of her old OE DBX files as well as her address book in both WAB and CSV formats.

I'm getting ready to install OEC but have not done so yet. I have a couple of questions for those of you who are already using this app:

1 - Address Book Groups - She has quite a few Groups (Distribution Lists) in her Address Book. Will those Groups/Distribution Lists import into OEC's address book/contact list? According to the OEC Help file, OEC will only import in CSV format. I have a feeling that those Group structures are going to be lost after the import. Would appreciate any intelligence/advice here.

2 - POP3 and Option to "Leave a Copy of Messages on the Server" - I filter and manually screen all of her email using webmail access to her email account. (She knows this and appreciates it; she would have long ago been the victim of every possible email crime if I was not in defensive mode.) I know that POP3 is the only incoming email protocol currently available in OEC. That's fine, because that is all she needs. (She does not access her email on any other device.) My question is in regard to an option for POP3 to leave/keep a copy of emails on the server. Does a "Leave a copy on the server" option exist somewhere in the account setup? I could not find it in the Help files. If yes, would you please direct me to it? ...
