AVG is much better ! 360 have weak protection, avira and bitdefender engine have delayed signatures and bad BB,..... also with ads.

I can 100% agree with this statement. No bugs, no performance issues, GUI is OK, miles better than Avira's or that of BitDefender. Protection is OK, too. For me, it's a keeper for now.

I've since moved on to Comodo Cloud AV. Pretty happy with the performance and impact overall and no issues to speak of. Not sure why it's not included in the testing done throughout the Web, but I really like the ease of use, low impact and overall UI. Can't argue for free either and no pop-ups or anything.

A test I saw recently stated that AVG caused a greater performance drag than Avast in the tests that were conducted. And there may be other differences still that favour AVG. So to say what you did is an over simplification.

TheIgster is talking about working with exclusions and things. And individual machines can cause variations in a Av's performance impact. As he says for him it's better. Others milage may vary. So much is subjective anyway. Thanks for going to the effort you did though.

The tests goes to you and your words:
    not to TheIgster.

Test shows that Avast and AVG have identical results.

Well I did see one conducted At Tom's Hardware which had results that varied from your list. Although it was for Mac's. Something I should have stated at the outset. AV-Test and AV-Comparatives are mentioned there as well. best-antivirus,review-2588-6.html

Exactly. I tested both products and found that AVG performed better overall than Avast with everything I tried to do with it. Exclusions, performance overall, ease of use, etc.

Well, they didn't perform identically at all on my machine. May be same engine and same sigs, but the code is different in each system and UI and overall use in my experiences to date. This isn't my first testing rodeo either. Been testing AV's for years.

Its really strange to me as to how AVG can sometimes do better than avast...wasnt there a case where avg IDP did catch something where the same in avast was caught at a later stage.IDP depends on filerep/cloud/file shield.

Also they never really told us the filerep-idp delay thing is fixed.Apparently if you disable the shields and test IDP only and the cloud has a sig for it..idp contacts cloud and blocks the malware but at a later stage which in case of a particular ransomware sample it blocked it after it encrypted some of the files.

I have to say that avast is one AV which has modules inter-connected with each other...
