Today I noticed there is a site out there I don't recall seeing. Have often used FileHippo and now we also have a FileHippoe
I can't find anything about FileHippoe being connected to FileHorse. Seems OK though. Thanks for response Special.
Mine was only a joke, I wouldn't use any of those sites they have been linked to installing adware from their installers, you should use sites like MajorGeeks.com and Portablefreeware.com and download the programs you want from the authors official site.
Yes, I understand Special. I would not have used FileHippoe. Had a bad smell. FileHippo however I trust.
I've just had a look at the file-hippoe website and for the most part, the downloads are linked to developers websites, so you will actually get the original installers, rather than ones packaged with adware. They're just capitalising on the filehippo name, to get traffic.
Same conclusion.... it seems that they either stopping business or taking very long holidays. Alternative is to move to SUMo : https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/sumo-keep-your-software-up-to-date.314623/
FileHippo's latest updates were June 28. FileHippo's owner's website, wkmedia.com, Well Known Media Ltd., has expired. Is seems that FileHippo has become a zombie website. Also see jhvance's July 16 posts, at AskWoody and Gizmo's.
I think FileHippo was owned by Piriform and perhaps now Avast ? Both companies were dissolved on the same day (24th Oct 2017) and had the same directors https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/09380270/officers https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/05565433/officers
Ah, I see, thanks very much. I don't know. I based my previous post on the Wikipedia info, and on what jhvance posted.
The Czech Republic info for it shows the same address as Avast has https://translate.googleusercontent...700265&usg=ALkJrhjKJqq_usge7qluV87hOz7VzpN71Q
