    Without searching:

    Open Settings.

    Scroll to the bottom.

    Click on "Advanced".

    Scroll to the bottom.

    Click on "Clean up computer".

    etc.

Don't understand. I'm using the same version but it just doesn't show for me. All it shows is Reset.

I have similar "problem". On one system it is there, on another not. Both are latest version with components updated.

I think it has to do with what version of windows you use. On my windows 10 laptop Chrome Version 65.0.3325.181 does show Clean up computer but on my windows 7 laptop Chrome Version 65.0.3325.181 does not show Clean up computer.

Well FWIW, it shows for me (as illustrated in my first post) on a desktop PC running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with SP1 and all security patches applied.

For me it's shown on Windows 10 and not on Windows 8.1.

Typically Chrome devs use their "experiments" or "field trials" as they call it to allow them to push out certain new features to a subset of users. For example, maybe they've pushed this feature out to 50% of users and if all goes well, they can increase (or decrease) that percentage depending on various factors. Anyway, this is my assumption of what is going on here. My Chrome stable build on Windows 10 also does not have the cleanup feature in the settings window.

I have it on one machine but not another - both Win10 x64.

I see you can disable sending results back to Google on the machine that shows it.

Today the only thing running was this tool on W7/32 Pro. It consumed 62% CPU. Multiple exe(s) ran for 7 minutes. Gibson's tool already says the system is slower since the meltdown fix - now this as well.

I scanned this thread and decided to block access to the program as suggested in the link provided (Ghack's article). At the bottom of the article, it states " The advantage of this method is that the tool cannot be run anymore and that updates cannot be applied to it anymore either".
    I hope so.

If you turn off the "Report Details to Google" setting and then close/reopen Chrome and then Settings-Advanced-Clean Up Computer, does the blue switch stay off or is it back on again? On mine it's back on. I've disabled the software reporter tool so there's nothing to report, but huh?

I did similar when I was using Chrome. I changed ACL or blocked it by SRP.

I would like to know why this is left behind after a Chrome uninstall and why immediately after uninstalling Chrome it proceeds to use 100% of my CPU.

It's because Chrome is a piece of junk, I call it crappy Chrome. Everytime I run it, it will launch the stupid "software reporting tool", luckily OSArmor is able to block it.

    I block it like this:

Navigate to: C:\Users\Your Computer Usrername\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data (Make sure you have hidden files to be shown in File Explorer Options)
Right-click on the folder SwReporter and select Properties from the menu.
    Switch to the Security tab.
Select Advanced on the page that opens.
Click on "Disable inheritance" and select "remove all inherited permissions from this object."
Select apply and in the Windows Security prompt "yes."
    Select Ok
    Select Ok again.

Agreed, I am liking it so far. I wish they would finish it sooner than later and kill the old Edge. I don;t need Google using up my CPU with their software reporting tool. I still mostly use Firefox anyway. The problem was having this thing run independent of Chrome.
