    @bo elam

Hitman Pro Alert does not appear in the Software Compatibilty-list after installing both Sandboxie 5.25.2 and Hitman Pro Alert. Can you help me out?

Hi deugniet, after reading your posts, I am not sure if you really fixed your issues, so, here is what I know.

For Hitman pro Alert until recently the setting that Sandboxie had available added the line below in Full access settings:

    [\Device\NamedPipe\hmpalert ]

After you add it, it should look like this:

    Czsep8l.jpg

But I am not sure if the setting is obsolete or whether is actually needed or not. You have to test.

For the create desktop Sandboxie error. I think you started getting it after updating to Firefox 60. If thats the case, then you need to lower "security.sandbox.content.level" from 5 to 4. I have had it at 0 for a long time. Or disable Multiprocess (I have also being doing that forever). Either change in about:config should take care of your issue.

Yeah, but it is still there for me.
That does work (thanks also @mood #4552). I suppose Invincea will fix it with the next beta.

To be perfectly honest, I doubt it. The 2 workarounds (lowering sandbox content level/Disabling Multiprocess) fix just about every issue related to Firefox under Sandboxie. That workaround aint going anywhere.

This is somewhat related as it is about SBIE messages running Firefox under SBIE. Earlier today I tested new Firefox profiles in my W7 and W10 after updating to Firefox 60. I got a SBIE message every time I closed Firefox about the Firefox pingsender.exe process that Firefox runs. I didn try to solve the message as my focus was on testing something else in particular with Firefox but I am afraid Firefox introduced in this version changes that will cause more conflict with SBIE. Now, go figure this, I am not getting the messages I just talk about with my old profile. :)

No worries bo, both problems solved. Isnt Sophos the owner of both Sandboxie and Hitman Pro Alert?

Yes, same owner I believe. Sophos owns SBIE.

I just thought maybe, because Mozilla upped 'security.sandbox.content.level' to 5 with Firefox 60? I think it was 4 before, and I had no hassles - even without disabling multiprocess.

But no problem to me really. Just more Sandboxie newcomers will likely encounter this now.

I've changed the sandbox security content level to 2.
Now, I'm not getting that stupid message but, on the other hand, I cannot go/visit any web-sites.
I can type and address/link but it goes NOWHERE.
Sometimes, I'm really upset with all those "smart people always trying to "improve" something".
My Firefox was working perfectly before Sum told me to update it. Now, I have that lame problem with Sandboxie.
I know, I know, all those issues/problems are like "bread& butter" for computer specialists - the more, the better, but to me - it sucks, it detracts me, it STEALS my time from doing my work/job.

What's more, the new "updated" version of Firefox with Sandboxie does NOT allow me to click and open any of my add-ons.
What a mess from those "smarties".

    firefox sandbox level
    https://wiki.mozilla.org/Security/Sandbox
    (level 5 missing)

sandbox level affects external calls to other programs. security reason.
if you dont know - DONT touch it. seriously

Level 2 in sandboxie is wrong, level 3 should do also.

dont moan about firefox, chrome is using it too. for firefox 60 it has now CFG.
if you dont like it - change it. but YOU are not the mass of users who dont know about internal security features, either firefox or windows.

Windows 10 x64, Firefox Quantum v60 and Sandboxie v5.24 (64bit). Other active security: Norton Security and Malewarebytes (Premium). Ever since Ff v60 I have been having "freeze" issues, e.g. when opening the American Express login page, it opens then the PC freezes, having to close via control-alt-delete! I then have to use Edge. I don't know if this is a Firefox or Sandboxie or some other issue. I went into Ff about:config settings presuming this, "Performance 'Use recommended' and 'security.sandbox' default 5 changed to 4." was about, however, I did not see those exact settings. Thank you for any replies, including suggesting I post the issue on the Firefox thread in the other software and services forum!

FWIW ~ if you're wanting to try workarounds < lowering sandbox content level &/or disabling multiprocess > #4559
    Code:
    about:config
    browser.tabs.remote.autostart
    security.sandbox.content.level

Never mind about what I wrote there. Tonight I played with a new Firefox profile and figured out what happened. Firefox with default settings sends telemetry data to Mozilla via pingsender.exe, that's why Sandboxie issued a message warning about pingsender.exe attempting to run in my Start/Run restricted sandbox. That is all normal, its been like that from before Firefox 60. I just didn't realize that unticking "Allow Firefox to send technical and interaction data to Mozilla" in Options>Privacy & Security, turns pingsender to off. Thats how I have that setting in my old profile and never seen that Sandboxie message in my computers. I was going to report this at the SBIE forum, but in the end, there's nothing to report. Sandboxie still rocks with Firefox :).

bjm, last night when I tested new profiles, turning toolkit.telemetry.shutdownPingSender.enabled to false in about:config did not to the trick. To stop pingreader.exe from attempting to run, the setting "Allow Firefox to send technical and interaction data to Mozilla" in Options>Privacy & Security, has to be turned to off. Perhaps that setting in about:config worked before but not now.

Anyway, in my current profile, toolkit.telemetry.shutdownPingSender.enabled is set to true and I never seen pingreader.exe attempt to run. The reason for that is because I turn off telemetry in Options>Privacy & Security. Doing that kills pingreader from attempting to run and in consequence, Sandboxie doesnt issue the Start/Run message about pingreader when we close Firefox.

    bo elam,
Yeah, when I checked after reading #4568 and with
    2807.png
    I found toolkit.telemetry.shutdownPingSender.enabled = default true
    So, I toggled toolkit.telemetry.shutdownPingSender.enabled = false
    as per ghacks.
    IDK

Is easy to check. Create a new profile outside the sandbox and set toolkit.telemetry.shutdownPingSender.enabled to false. Close Firefox.

Run Firefox in an Start/Run restricted sandbox where only firefox.exe is allowed to run. When you close Firefox, Sandboxie will issue the Start/Run message telling that pingreader.exe was blocked from running. That result means changing the setting in about:config did not turn off pingreader.exe.

Now, set "Allow Firefox to send technical and interaction data to Mozilla" in Options>Privacy & Security to off, after doing that, run Firefox in an Start/Run restricted sandbox, when you close Firefox, you wont see a Sandboxie message about pingreader.exe attempting to run as changing that setting effectively turns pingsender to off

You can also test the changes with your current profile but is a better test with a new profile.

    bo elam,
Okay, seems 'Options' controls PingSender regardless of 'toolkit.telemetry.shutdownPingSender.enabled' Value.

Nope, I asked a few days ago, this is what I was told:

    "Hey Bo,

That website is for the invincea product, which is also called invincea. Thus, it is confusing. (X by invincea was referred to as invincea). It does not affect Sandboxie.

Sandboxie is still up and running. We are fixing issues, testing OS updates and releasing new betas and official builds.
    This topic still stands: viewtopic.php?p=126347#p126347

I assure you that if anything changes there will be notifications. But, so far, haven't heard of anything!

    Regards"

We are OK. Read the link within the PM.

    Bo
