Google Container for Firefox to isolate Google April 30, 2018 https://www.ghacks.net/2018/04/30/google-container-for-firefox-to-isolate-google/ Google Container: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/google-container/
be careful with this extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/self-destructing-cookies-1/ orginal (xul) https://addons.mozilla.org/irefox/addon/self-destructing-cookies/ web-ex https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/self-destructing-cookies-webex/ or Cookie AutoDelete :: Add-ons for Firefox Forget Me Not :: Add-ons for Firefox
There is nothing wrong with it - it works well. That said, I've disabled it as I'm using Temporary Containers which opens every site in its own - you guessed it - temporary container which isolates it against the rest of the world and which is deleted after some minutes including everything within - cookies, storage, indexeddb etc. CAD is, hence, no longer needed.
Thought you were making a general comment, nothing to indicate otherwise . Using Temporary Containers too - I see the dev has this to say about CAD, so only useful for permanent containers. Cookies AutoDelete to automatically remove cookies and localStorage: The same as with "Private Windows" and “Disabled third-party cookies” applies as long as the cookie storage isn’t cleared — which depends on which settings you have in CAD and defaults to manually clicking "Clean". Also with localStorage support enabled you make fingerprinting easier, because CAD needs to set a cookie for the domains you visit and CAD can’t clear indexebDB storage or CacheStorage at all (because of Firefox API limitations). If you want to see it yourself try filling your indexedDB and localStorage with 5kb on this site. Now close the tab (and click Clean depending on your settings), open the site again and you’ll see that the indexedDB storage is still there. It’s still pretty useful to use Cookies AutoDelete: it can keep your permanent container clean from unwanted Cookies. Make sure to activate the Container Support — and instead of activating localStorage support I’d recommend using Temporary Containers.
VirusTotal Releases VTZilla 2.0 Extension For Firefox Quantum May 2, 2018 https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ne...ses-vtzilla-20-extension-for-firefox-quantum/
Yes, I read that, too. I'd say it depends if you're using permanent containers and if so, how you're using them. If you're using, e.g., a permanent "Banking" container in which you open your various bank sites - yes, then CAD makes sense as those banking sites are not isolated against each other. But that's not what I do. I open every site in a temporary container with 2 exceptions: These are sites which are allowed to set permanent cookies, and opening them in a permanent container makes them re-use those cookies (which doesn't work in Temporary Containers - at least I wasn't successful in configuring it that way). This means I have two permanent containers with exactly one site within each. In that case CAD is completely superfluous.
Open Tabs in Firefox to the right of the current tab Find out how to configure the Firefox web browser so that new tabs that you open in the browser open always to the right of the active tab and not at the end of the tab bar. May 10, 2018 https://www.ghacks.net/2018/05/10/open-tabs-in-firefox-to-the-right-of-the-current-tab/ Always Right: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/always-right/
This one does the same? Open Tabs Next to Current: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/open-tabs-next-to-current/
i think this is the default behavior of firefox - right click > open in new tab -> is next to current tab - always. reason i never installed it. exception is ctrl+t which opens tab at the end - and ofc this makes sense because its independent of current tab. its a root of a possible new tree.
People with a lot of tabs might like to open a new tab next to the currently active tab (else it is jumping to the end of the tab bar). In this case the user can quickly switch back to the previously active tab.
Tab Open/Close Control :: Add-ons for Firefox this makes much more sense because "open to the left" dont respect firefox behavior when closing tabs. which means not or never to go back to the source tab.
Can't get this to work for some reason. I added the code to a blank userChrome.css file (after backing up the original), but when I start Firefox it doesn't implement the changes; it just reverts to the original userChrome.css.
