I just put myself into the Fast Ring, rebooted, and it immediately started downloading the Release.... it's installing now, should be done in about an hour I guess...

Made a Macrium image of 1709 right before I started so I can roll back if I want to.

    Resistance if futile... anyway....
I find it interesting that the 1803 April update will be released in May (if the leaks are correct). Maybe they should just call it the 18whenever summer update.

Tried the latest spring update 1803. All went well for half the day. Then the whole thing froze. I had to reboot and it worked for a short time, then the freezing problem began again. After a couple of restarts the problem wouldn't go away. I tried a hard reboot, shutting down the laptop completely for half a minute, I was left with a dark screen. After several minutes waiting, I gave up and reverted to a Macrium image of 1709 I made prior to the upgrade. The new one did seem a little faster than 1709 while it worked.

Looks like Microsoft learned a lesson regarding releasing the April (AKA Spring) Update ISO install files early after the last fiasco with 17133. No sign of new install files yet; Monday will be here soon enough.

I just used the Microsoft Media Creation Tool to download W10 and got the old Fall Creators Edition. :thumbd: If any of you know when the April Update actually becomes available, please let the rest of us know please!

Usually they release updates at 10:00 am Pacific, but could be later. I would try again after that.

If you're in a hurry this worked for me on Friday:

1803 is officially here folks. I just downloaded the Media Creation tool and got MediaCreationTool1803.exe from Microsoft. Creating an upgrade USB drive currently.

For JB and others like me that upgraded to 1803 early when it was supposed to be released a few weeks ago, GOOD NEWS! Windows Update still sees the new April Update and allows you to "update in place"!
