Yes, I agree. What once was an excellent program Avast have fixed it until it is now like their AV becoming an ad ridden, bloated clone of its former self. A great pity. :(

Wouldn't one want a version prior to March 11 2017, when Piriform was potentially infected? (#900)

The Android ccleaner has changed for the worse lately.

Right. I threw out the Win version already a couple of weeks ago and now I tend to do the same with the Android version.

I noticed with this latest release that *avast.com has been added to the list of 'Cookies to Keep'.

Yes, they have whitelisted cookies for the domain by default. Reason:

People blocking CCleaner in the firewall, will not see any dynamic content at all, but they will have tracking cookies present on the system. If you trust Avast, then it is not a problem.

As I understand it these cookies have only been introduced with the latest version (or perhaps a recent version). Those of using an older version, v5.35 in my case , and blocking Ccleaner with WFC (see #886) , can hopefully avoid all of Avast's intrusive tracking and telemetry.

Isn't that the purpose of the cookie in the first place to prevent users from seeing many ads?

They are saying it is to prevent users seeing the ads again and again. I never see a single add in the first place. :)

Interesting question, if I'm looking for similar problems you are talking about here - cannot find. It does not matter whether I use registered (in your language pro, business or technicial) or unregistered ie so-called Free Version, is not or can not find.
What's wrong, why can not I find? I'm so stupid, blind or what is happened, why I can't find.
Please explain, how to find these problems. What especial I should do to find them?

Isn't the purpose of CCleaner to remove crap like this, not add more of it?

I've been using BleachBit more regularly since it reached 2.0 stable. I noticed that when cleaning with BleachBit, CCleaner would still find a few dozen things to delete regarding Chrome/Chromium. So I spent a few hours the other day creating about a dozen rules for BleachBit to bring it up to date with the cleaning rules of CCleaner. Now I have no more need for CCleaner which is a nice feeling. I always prefer to choose open source when possible.

I too am a fan of BleachBit; I do wish I could whitelist individual cookies however.

Is this too hard to achieve from a dev perspective?

I seen an ad first run after the update, then deleted the avast cookie and set it back to "File List". Haven't seen an ad since.

PortableApps are updated automatically. I have been for waiting for a portable version for years and when I stop using it, they finally release it.
