I have to say for an older program is still kicks butt! Sadly I can't open it anymore since it says it expired and I have to download the latest version which I can't find anymore. I wish this would become open source. Does anyone else still use this?
One of the best software ever developed, sadly those kind of software like Defensewall were ahead of their time so mostly niche software then discontinued. The closest thing to Geswall is ReHIPS.
I tried GeSWall several years ago on Windows XP, but I quickly dumped it because I wanted to use Opera as my default web browser, but my attempts to make GeSWall protect Opera proved to be futile. Other software that I also tested and quickly abandoned: BufferZone Pro and DefenseWall. I ended up using Comodo PF for a while, but eventually I removed it and switched to Sandboxie.
If you want to install and play with Geswall even today, follow these steps: Disconnect the computer from the network and Internet Change the system date from 2018 to 2011 for example Launch the setup and install the software Restart the computer In trial mode you can play with the software for 15 days but the system date must stay in 2011. If you have a licence for the pro edition (like me), import it from the interface of Geswall, register the software and change back the system date from 2011 to 2018. My licence key is valid until 2099. Best regards
Seeing how the program hasn't been available and the site has been down for a while, a pro licence is impossible to get now haha.
Sure ! In 2011, it was an interesting software and I have invested a few bucks in a licence. The licence key is stored in a xml file joined to the email received when I have purchase it. With this licence I can install and use Geswall even today. To answer to your question at the beginning of this thread, I have installed the software on a testing PC a few days ago. Without this file you are lost. Best regards
I used GesWAll till one year after it was discontinued: strong program, never failed, I used it successfully with old Opera. GesWall and System Safety Monitor was the best security combination I never had
The latest free version - 2.9.2 - you can download from that page https://geswall.en.lo4d.com/download and it seems to be legit.
To be honest, I'm not sure about this. The latest official version was 2.9.1 before website goes offline. Edit: 2.9.1 was the last version of the Professional Edition. For the freeware edition I don't know.
System Safety Monitor is a great program too. I have the free edition and the paid version too with a licence key.
GSW 2.9.2 - look at the post #40 https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/geswall-expires-12-12-2011.313500/page-2 Download from Wilders https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/geswall-died.346901/page-2#post-2230539
No...there was 2.9.2 Pro but only for 32-bit. Here you can see review of it but already no way to download it. http://www.brothersoft.com/geswall-professional-edition-84227.html and here is the analisys of GSW Pro on Emsi page https://www.isthisfilesafe.com/md5/D6B53B591DEB2A7E676144FCAACFB3F5_details.aspx
Verified -- the file is identical to the one I downloaded from Gentle Security's website several years ago. For future reference: Code: $ sha256sum geswall.2.9.2.freeware.exe 95121ab439e9dc33c08dba1815090cb98a15b1c3a7cfabcc77190597eac1392f geswall.2.9.2.freeware.exe
