I tried it when their site was selling other stuff too. Now it seems they only sell the AV and an office suite. I think their engine is by Nictatech/Proland and it was buggy. Proland seems to be dead now - pspl.com @roger_m would you please check the AV and IS? Thanks!
As expected, it has a very basic interface with limited options. It uses the same scan engine as Digital Patrol and is using Kaspersky signatures. I ran a scan and the the detection names I Googled, had the exact same name as Kasperksy definitions. However, it does not detect a lot of things that Kaspersky does. I'm guessing is it stealing definitions from Kaspersky, as I can find no information about Digital Patrol using Kaspersky signatures and due to the fact that the detection rates are not as good as Kaspersky.
Dev said Nictatech + ClamAV I think Nictatech uses the same naming convention as Kaspersky and it maybe uses same name if it was already detected by Kaspersky? Take a look at Ikarus and Fortinet; they use the same name if another already detects it. I wonder what happened to Proland? :/ @Firecat any inside info? Haha
AFAIK Protector Plus bit the dust sometime in 2015 (not sure about exact dates) as the new owner decided it was no longer profitable (Cranes Software).
