Facebook Offers Bounty Program For Evidence Of Data Leaks

"...Facebook will pay upward of $40,000 to people who catch large data leaks.

The company announced a bounty program on Tuesday which would reward people who find cases of data abuse on its platforms. Payouts start at $500, and people can receive more than $40,000 for big discoveries. The data abuse program is the first of its kind in the industry..."

It's ironically when you realize Facebook tries to automatically understand political orientation of it's user-base. There is a page inside Facebook profile you can see (if you have account) what you are interested in. If you ever surfed political-oriented Web pages or Facebook groups, it might happen you can see some politics or names of ideologies here.

Not really any different when trying to explain some of the so called "advanced computer users" what is a compiler, operating system, kernel, device driver, packet sniffer, TCP, DNS and so on....

    Just different levels of knowledge...
(and majority of them at the bottom of it)

They all have to rely on their staff for help on many issues. Nothing new there.

Exactly. Not everyone can know everything (but heh, how can someone *not* know what computer is is beyond me ... ;) I mean those old grandpas did have those already around the time they were young .... :D).
Anyway, yes, they need their staff to explain these things. Which can be good or bad, depending of the staff and their motives.......

Transcript of Mark Zuckerberg’s Senate hearing

    Some of the questions asked:

Are you willing to change your business model in the interest of protecting individual privacy?

How long do you keep users data if they choose to delete their Facebook account?

There have been reports that Facebook can track a user's Internet browsing activity, even after that
user has logged off of the Facebook platform. Can you confirm whether or not this is true?

I'm still waiting with bated breath for all the apologies to come pouring in from all my Facebook - associates? who have fingered me over the years with their contact lists, photographs, descriptions....

After all, I've been pretty saintly, to date, abstaining with the "told-you-so" gloating, despite their early indifference. But it really is a problem for everyone, not equal to the barons.

So 45% of America get's their news filtered & feeded throught giant ad & marketing platform .....

    And finally this:
Why isn't that professor in jail already ?
I understand that Mark might get away with just lil slap to the wrist and told "Naughty" because billionares have different rules than common man but can't they at least jail that crook prof?

    I did appreciate that ~ 6 Senators & Congressmen/women nailed Zuckerbarf with this info/question.

When you go to any web site that has a FB (google, etc) button on the web page, FB (Google, etc) scarfs data. Whether you have FB loaded at that time in a different tab/window. Even regardless if you have a FB account. And certainly even if you do not click the Button. If you do click the Button, they get even more info.

When it was in the form of a ? Zuckerbarf BSed or dodged. He never once responded correctly which is that Yes - FB receives info

The only real sorry that Mark can give is give half his company profits to charity and after that go to jail (for at least 2 years). There he can start JailBook for inmates.

Facebook isn’t worried about the impact of its privacy scandal on its bottom line
