Hellouuuuu! I was thinking an alternative to backup my Original DVD or CD software, you know if a Media is scratched maybe it may become unreadable No backing up using another DVD or CD is the same No backing up in a external hard drive... maybe in the USA they are cheap but in Mexico an external hard drive cost a fortune... and bla, bla, bla Convert them to an .ISO file will be a good idea? Thanks Came
I long choose to convert my DVD/CD's into ISO and then transfer those that see little use to plug-in pen drives. Pens seem dirt cheap for larger storage capacity depending on user use. Hope that helps a little.
I still use Nero to make Data ISO but there are plenty free/good alternatives that are updated a lot, simply Google will turn up many good ones. In fact your topic is made for reminder i need to update mine which is not been used since backing up discs last year. Thanks
I also recommend ImgBurn. You will get read errors when creating the ISO if there are any issues. However, there is a Verify disc function in ImgBurn, which compares the content on the disc with the image file, to make sure they are the same. But, if there are no errors shown when creating the image, personally I wouldn't worry about doing that.
Thanks for that information Buuuuuut a big NOP for ImgBurn Ok.. Ok it is bloatware/adware from the official website.... LordOfDaZombiez • 3 days ago http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/imgburn.html For the paranoid, here are the hashes for the non-open candy version hosted here "SetupImgBurn_2.5.8.0.exe" As of 04/05/2018 MD5 - 4bf2b8f4b46385bfda4d65e423cfb868 SHA1 - 6a3d20796e1fcd4169d5d339af6e491dcea3367c On the official ImgBurn website their official mirror "Mirror 7 - Provided by ImgBurn (Currently hosting v2.5.8.0)" (The version with Open Candy) has the following hashes listed (Obviously different because the official version has open candy included) "setupImgBurn_2.5.8.0.exe" 04/05/2018 MD5 - 0B4C94F8480F8CD13E160BCEAAAA8B2 SHA1 - 6FC013ED5944B13EFC54648699EA80F304E37AD0 I am not paranoid. I am super mega paranoid TBH the reason is I am not going to backup a video game, I am going to backup an Original OS I prefer to pay for a clean software Came
I am not paranoid. I am super mega paranoid There's no need to be paranoid. OpenCandy in nothing to worry about. When you install ImgBurn, you will be given the option to install extra third party software, as you can in the following screenshot. However, if you uncheck the check box, then nothing extra will be downloaded and installed. OpenCandy does not install on your system, it is only used to offer third party extras when you install software. So, if you uncheck the option to install third party software, then only ImgBurn will be installed.
Slightly off-topic you can use Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier if you have a cd you want to save and it has a couple of scratches on it http://www.roadkil.net/program.php/P29/Unstoppable Copier He has some interesting programs.
Thanks to @EASTER @kC_ @roger_m @stapp and @The Seeker My first .ISO backup was created without issue Camelia
This portable tool is simple (23KB), yet effective. Code: http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/CD-DVD-Rip-Other-Tools/LC-ISO-Creator.shtml
software media can be backuped easy - but games with a protection are difficult or not possible to copy, even same for video media. "the dog has eaten my dvd" still a running gag - place to media at a safe place, maybe a firesave safe. i dont have scratches on my paid media. creating ISO here: UltraISO, WinISO, or for free: BurnAware
