why? messages? support? not sure, but mw free is old!? i have also this one as portable running with some spam lists http://www.d-jan.de/mailcheck_en.shtml
OK..thanks. Old yes, but I had it working before on Win67/64. Not sure what the deal is now. Just installed a mess of Win updates. Maybe fixing broke it. http://www.mailwasher.net/download-mailwasher-free
this way http://www.mailwasher.net/spam-filter i really would use mailcheck v2 - no nags, banners, ads, multiple emails/accounts, spam lists: t1.dnsbl.net.au 127.0.0.2 sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org 127.0.0.2 bl.spamcop.net 1270.0.2 server preview, several options for notifying, reply etc etc. and its complete free. setup or portable. fireturst is throwing free licenses from time to time, and renew is cheaper than buy. (bit more than half price) mailwasher is not portable, its biased for windows user accounts. (mailcheck also when regular setup)
I understand Brummelchen. I love that program, but since installing win updates, aks downdates, Mailwasher will not install. Throws a mess of errors at me.
try to contact firetrust support. i never experienced any installation errors. which in most cases point out a damages system or active security software.
Yeah, that was the first thing I thought. I just reinstalled Win so kinda strange, but who knows. I thought about support but that felt uncomfortable in that I was using the free version. You talked me into it. Thank you.
i can give you a hint how to find issues while installing. The EXE file is container for setup+msi - at least an MSI file is executed. START > Open > %temp% and search for a subfolder with exe+msi - save both to another place. open command line in target folder (exe+msi) Code: msiexec.exe /i "C:\<path>\<mailwasher.msi>" /L*v "%userprofile%\Desktop\mailwasher.log" you should find the log file on your desktop to analyze. (adjust path & mailwasher.msi) i cannot install because pro already installed.
A bit off topic, but I don't understand why I get so much spam on Yahoo Mail, about 80 messages a day. And it wouldn't be a problem if I never had to look at them, but sometimes legitimates mails do end up in the spam folder, so it's getting a bit annoying. Can these kind of apps also help with web-mail services?
I installed MailWasher with Sandboxie but it keeps crashing in the sandbox, what a bummer. But I don't believe these apps can help with web-mail anyway.
It matters if you want to test software before installing them on the real system. Spamihilator also didn't work, don't know if Sandboxie is being too restrictive. I guess I should start using VirtualBox.
You're not going to believe this, but since switching from Yahoo Classic Mail, to the full featured mode, I almost don't get any spam anymore, so there's definitely something fishy going on.
Hello Rasheed187, I am sure you have looked at all the spam settings you have to play with, so not sure what to say. Lucky you comes to mind
To clarify, my comment didn't have anything to do with Mailwasher, but I just thought it was strange that when I switched to the new Yahoo Mail, I went from 100 spam messages to about 10 a week, so apparently they were using some kind of inferior anti-spam solution for Yahoo Mail Classic. Either that or a couple of spam servers have been taken offline.
