Since upgrading my old Bleachbit to version 2.0, my Avira Antivirus Free is pestering me with warnings about:
    TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen.2
which seem to be connected to the Bleachbit, according to the info it gives me, but Google search suggests its some sort of trojan infection. Neither 'Malwarebytes Free' nor 'Adwcleaner' is recognizing any threat. So do I let Avira quarantine the three items, or leave them alone? If they are part of Bleachbit, and I quarantine, will that screw up Bleachbit?

The exe is probably just packed with Xpack which is clear from the generic detection naming, packing exe is sometimes (not always) used by malware devs to decrease the file size, encryption etc.
Make sure you downloaded the file from the official source, you may also upload it to virustotal and see the results for yourself.

I went ahead and let Avira quarantine it, and as suspected, that screwed up the Bleachbit (would no longer open via desktop icon nor any other way). Uninstalled Bleachbit, rebooted, reinstalled Bleachbit 1.8, rebooted, and no more whining from Avira. So something in BleachBit 2.0 is not compatible with Avira 15.0.8.658 I guess.

It's a false positive. You will be able to use version 2, by whitelisting it in Avira.
