I'm not too worried about that. For Outlook, accounts get deleted after 365 days of inactivity. If I haven't logged into my email in a year, I'm probably dead.
Would you pay for an email account? Or are free accounts from Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, etc. good enough for you? The last question applies. Would I pay for an email account? Of course I would, but at the moment the free accounts are good enough for my purposes.
I would recommend a reputable email provider that has been around for awhile. You don't want to sign up for johnsmith's email service which just started operating in 2017. Johnsmith maybe one man company and chances are they will go under sooner or later. Worst the company will scan your emails for advertisers.
Some would rather maintain their own mail servers. Of course there can be lengthy discussion what about pros and cons when professional service could be more secure than maintaining private server (smtp) in the spare time.
Anyone have experience with inbox.com? They have not been taking new accounts for a while due to major changes, so I am unable to try it.
I have Gmail, Vivaldi mail, AOL and GMX all free. At the moment I can't see the advantage of paying. I'm pretty sure there was an email included with my ISP, so technically I've paid for that. I don't use it though.
I'm using iCloud email now because I know it doesn't get deleted after a certain amount of time. My account was inactive from 2014 until late 2017 and it was still getting emails.
I like tutanota and protonmail both, neither of them gather your personal info on the pretext of protecting your account.
