I would like to slow the playback speed on some videos I have downloaded from Youtube. I usually use Windows Media Player, but it only offers "fast" and "slow" along with normal speed. Can anyone recommend a free player that offers more granularity for slowing down playback? TIA

    MPC- HC offers that option.
In settings you define speed step and then use decrease/increase speed commands to set a speed that you want.

Media Player Classic - Home Cinema! Awesome, thank you :thumb:

FYI: For those running HitmanPro.Alert MPC-HC needs to be added to the exclusions list to prevent crashes.

    You're welcome :)

Also, those that use Emsisoft Anti-Malware have to exclude it from monitoring also - just to make it run :)

Unfortunately I can't get MCP-HC to work reliably with HMPA. Any other suggestions for video software with variable playback speed? TIA

Edit: I just discovered that Windows Media Player also has the ability to vary playback speed in steps. It's not as convenient to use as MPC-HC, but it has the benefit of not affecting the pitch of the audio:

Edit 2: OK, problem solved. VideoLAN works perfectly and has hot-keys for changing the playback speed incrementally :thumb:
