@SHvFl if keeping a feature that will be obsolete and may potentially conflict because of an incoming major change, it seems logical to remove it.

Don't forget that the dev team is always ahead in term of builds, so the build you have now, is the one they already worked on, they need users to follow the same pathway.
So a build with the removed features so issues/bugs users may have can be fixed easily.

How come EAM update is not showing number of virus definitions. It only shows that the update was successful.

You can see the number of virus definitions by opening the GUI and hovering your cursor over the words ''software is up to date' which is under the green Protection panel.

Okay thanks. What I am referring to though is the update notice no longer contains the number of definitions.

No it doesn't show the numbers anymore in the update notice in Forensic logs. Must have been an internal decision (perhaps lack of room !!)

    Hi Trooper

Just so you know when I test against malware I always turn off EAM. Otherwise it's in my way. So not sure you felt was lacking, but it does it's job.

Peter isn't testing the efficiency of Emsisoft when he's testing malware. He's saying Emsisoft blocks it every time so he has to turn it off while testing malware. Hope that makes sense now.

Thanks Tony you are spot on. Since I know it will block it is annoying. What I am usually testing for is other software. Appguard is another I just turn off for testing. Note all testing is done in a VM

Makes sense totally. I would have responded sooner had you tagged me. It's not that I think EAM is terrible, it's not. It needs improvement in two key areas for me.

    1. Phishing
    2. False positives

These two reasons alone is why I did not go with EAM at my job last year. I realize that there are other things that can protect against phishing, but with EAM not being really strong in this area, it was a no go for me. I told them why I passed them over last year for these two key points. They said they will follow up with me this fall and will have many improvements with the product at that point in time. We shall see.

Pete I get what you do but I am not testing live malware at my job. I need a product to protect my end users if and when they do click on something that they should not have. Even though we have trained our users not to fall for this kind of stuff, let's just say they have a short attention span.

I'm hoping that Fabian's statement here means less false positives for the behavior blocker

    https://blog.emsisoft.com/2018/01/31/new-in-2018-1-revamped-behavior-blocker-user-experience/
"Those "advanced rules" will not come back. The reason for that is that over the next months we are going to roll out a new generation of our behaviour blocker technology. Unlike the existing behaviour blocker, where we have specific triggers that cause certain alerts to appear, the new system is built on a more holistic model. That means, alerts are not triggered by one action happening under a specific combination of circumstances, but by a whole bunch of actions, that stretch across multiple areas. As a result a clear mapping between trigger and alert becomes impossible."

Anyone else seen this error? It happens 7-20 days after installing a fresh image of windows 10 and has happened 4 times on clean reinstalls of Windows. I did log a support request, but they were completely useless and basically said they have never seen this and therefore it has to be something on my pc.

I wasted quite a bit of time on my license because i quite like Emsisoft and keep trying to see if it's fixed in later builds, but then get frustrated and use something else for long periods because it means i have activate Windows every single day!

Anyway, anyone else seen this? :)

I ran into a squirrely activation issue on a win 7 computer. It would lose activation and I'd have to restore an image to fix it. But it persisted so finally i just went thru the phone activation process. Haven't had an issue since then. You also might re install EAM
