Until just a couple days ago, I have been successfully using EAM on my XP machine -- and still getting regular Definition updates. However, I'm no longer getting those Definition updates -- says my software is out of date (which it has been for a while now). Not exactly sure what happened or what they did, but something has just recently changed. Guess I'm still somewhat protected - at least with Definitions as of a couple days ago, but what do I do now?? If EAM is a total goner for me, what alternative is my next best option?
Before giving up on EAM, post your problem on their forum, here: https://support.emsisoft.com/forum/52-emsisoft-anti-malware/
Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't have an account at Emsisoft -- and it's been giving me fits trying to create one, so I'll guess I'll just have to pass. But thanks again, anyway.
Hi Tom Why is the software out of date. Ah, let guest confirm, but I am not sure EAM still supports XP. pete
That's exactly right Pete -- that's what he said -- they're no longer supporting XP. But the strange thing (for which I did not get an explanation) is that I don't believe they've been supporting it for quite some time now. However, until just two days ago, I was still getting regular daily virus definition updates. Maybe they decided to reconfigure their definition format to be compatible with only their more current program versions. Oh well, guess I'll be looking for a replacement.
EAM (and EEK) stopped officially supporting XP and Vista in April 2016, https://blog.emsisoft.com/2015/06/24/support-for-windows-xp-and-vista-will-end-april-2016/ however they have continued to give definition updates for almost 2 years. The def updates have only been turned off in the last couple of days.
