Hey Cruise, your concern interests me because last year I changed-out the HDD in my W7 laptop (also with Intel RST) with a Crucial MX300 SDD and while I have noticed somewhat faster operation it's not nearly as dramatic as I was anticipating.

What happens if you remove the micro SSD and only use your new SSD?

    Cruise,

Thanks. Your partitions are 1MiB aligned so no problem there. But your ATTO result is terrible. The numbers should be 30 times greater that what you are seeing. A USB 2 flash drive would have higher numbers than your SSD. That is weird.

Cruise, can you make another PartInfo and click File, Export to Text File. Open the text file and copy what I indicated in a previous post.

Actually, can you attach the PartInfg.txt to a post. The text file.

Ever since replacing my HDD with the SSD I've known something isn't right. Samsung Magician gave me a clue when it said "AHCI is deactivated" but I couldn't find a way to activate AHCI so here I am!

Which app did you use to transfer the partitions from the HD to the SSD?

Thanks, I'm still taking it in.

Can you post a screenshot of Disk Management?

I can't be positive about that. I think it was IFW, but it could have been MR as I've been using both.

OK. I was curious about an Extended partition in your PartInfo but that's explained and OK now.

Can you run ATTO on the Logical Volumes but to save time choose a Transfer Size of 16 MB. Are the numbers any better than the C: drive? No need to screenshot them. If not, do the ATTO numbers improve if you re-enable Intel RST?

Let's assume you have a 64-bit OS. Use the 32-bit folder if you don't
Copy the f6flpy-x64 folder to your IFL flash drive

    boot IFL
click exit on the IFL window
    click mnt in the dock
arrow down to the last entry. It should be your flash drive. You will see its size and vfat
    press Enter on your keyboard
    click OK for Exit Menu

click the third icon in the top dock. OSD Tool
    press Enter on Physical Drive
    press Enter on your OS
press Enter on the Confirm selected Windows Installation screen
    Install drivers
    Install a specific driver
arrow down to mnt1 and press Enter
arrow down to f6flpy-x64 and press Enter
arrow down to iaAHCIC.inf and press Enter
    Auto Detect
Do not filter on Hardware ID
    Start install driver iaAHCIC.inf
on next screen Press <Enter> to continue
    Go back to menu
    Exit

You should be back at the "blank" IFL desktop
Right click the desktop. Reboot. Yes.

You should boot into Windows. Open Samsung Magician and check that AHCI setting.

Sorry I'm not familiar with scratch drives, but from what I gather it is not removed as it is in use but for a different purpose as a sort of page file.

There are many posts questioning the reliability of Samsung Magician's AHCI comment. Also, The ATTO results are dubious. Just too low. You should try another benchmarking app.

I'll do that Brian. Can you tell me what read-write values I should expect from a Samsung 850 EVO SSD?

    Cruise, I don't have one but maybe 500 Read, 400 Write. MB/sec.

That is with SATA 3. You might have SATA 2.

    Edit... SATA 2 might be 250, 250.

Cruise, that's the same as ATTO. Weird, I don't know what is happening.

OK, go ahead with the AHCI driver install and see if the bench-marking improves.
