You can also use uBlock Origin and don't have to worry about it.

Yep. That's what i was using. Just wanted to give a try to something different, hoping to block some more ads and trackers, but MVPS HOSTS that's included in uBlock Origin seems to block %99 of ads and trackers.

    Glad UBO is not included.

Nothing about Adguard? Must be good.

Thanks for that, I was just looking for a replacement for Ghostery. I tried uBlock before, but that is just a malware, Origin makes all the difference. :thumb:

Have installed Adguard (For testing purposes) along with uBlock Origin. And Adguard has an option for statistics collection "Send anonymous statistics about the work of Adguard ad filters, Adguard identified as suspicious. Not recommended on slow computers." Help us in Browsing security filters developmentSubmit anonymous security-related information" I am skeptical if it's still will collect statistics even if those options are turned off.

    At least they ask.
Can't trust anyone now, very sad.

I would go and stay with uBlock Origin. And you are right, you can't trust anyone.

You can try Adguard DNS. I use it with uBlockO (without blocking ADs), it is a perfect combo.
After setting uBlockO up, I do not even get that anti-ADblocker message from the wired article.

Ads can circumvent "uBlock Origin" via WebSockets (on Chromium-based browsers)
To block these kind of Ads, "uBlock Origin WebSocket" should be installed too.
(Sidenote: AdGuard is able to block WebSocket connections)

I see outbound connections for adguard, not checking for updates or anything else i have everything set so supposedly no outbound. But I see it wants a connection for every page I visit, but blocked (temporarily) through my firewall until i want to update.
    Why?

Click Report under the post and ask the Mod's to remove it.

Thanks for the reminder! I had forgotten to check the box in uBlock Origin for MVPS. Should of been checked by default though. Oh well.

pfSense with pfBlockerng & DNSBL works very nicely as well. Not only is that harder for the blighters to detect, it applies to all devices without additional config.

I ought to implement that in my pfSense VPN gateways. Can you provide helpful links?
