Hi, Keep an eye on the thread Newegg.com AV Specials. Our Savings Monitor Thankful often post there giveaways. See also this thread: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/eset-internet-security-deals-anywhere.397098/ Since you seem to be in the US, keep also an eye on the sites of North America resellers. And, you never know, maybe there will be discounts around Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Kaspersky has a stand-alone product that can scan UEFI. It is not integrated with is retail/endpoint AV solutions.
It's an on chip solution they sell to OEM manufacturers: https://usa.kaspersky.com/antivirus-for-uefi Details here: https://media.kaspersky.com/en/business-security/Kaspersky_AV_for_UEFI_1.0.pdf
is there any way i can confirm that the UEFI scanner is active and doing its work? enabled everything in settings, was expecting a logo or some stuff like Kaspersky used to have with their HV, but i don't see any visual difference? fired up ESET on my PC to see what's up.
what do you mean "1 year license giveaway"? Perhaps I'm not understanding what you're wanting - but I fail to understand why ESET would give away their new product. On the business side there are free time giveaways with purchase (extra time with purchase) - 2 months on 1 year, 4 months on 2 years and 6 months on 3 year licenses.
Version 11.0.154.0 offered for download this morning. Regular updates. No mention of change log on Eset forum.
Version 11.0.154.0 changelog Added: Scanning of process file-system operations made by pico processes Changed: License expiration messages do not display as Windows toast messages Fixed: An issue that causes files hidden in long directories not to be scanned Fixed: Specific notifications reappear after being closed Fixed: EGUI does not start after initial installation and restart Fixed: The link to "I forgot my password" from License Manager tab leads to incorrect webpage Fixed: Automatic Gamer mode does not work properly when Internet Explorer 11 is changed to full screen mode Fixed: Offline installer for ESET Internet Security installs the wrong product Fixed: Invalid folder selected is displayed when selecting a custom install folder, even though the folder exists Fixed: Inconsistent update information is displayed during product upgrade Fixed: Incorrect ESET Firewall state reported to Windows Defender Security Center Fixed: Various internal bug fixes and localization improvements
for the first time in history, NOD32 actually updated to the latest build without me having to do a manual installation over the top!
First time? I know it hasn't always been smooth, but this is far from the first time I've done it - at least half a dozen times a week I upgrade in place using the upgrade option.
Yes, I just got version 11.0.159.0 automatically offered; no pre-release enabled. Reboot required as usually. Changelog: At https://www.eset.com/int/home/antivirus/download/ (Look at advanced download options) Version 11.0.159.0 Changed: The user no longer needs to deselect a check box during installation to install the product to a custom folder Changed: Updated LiveGrid status reporting so that yellow status is now not shown until a network connection is unavailable for 10 minutes Fixed: The Update window does not refresh after downloading a 3rd party installer Fixed: Device Control does not activate Fixed: Exclusions are not accepted during the initial scan that is made after installing Fixed: The scrollbar does not display in the Update window Fixed: Banking & Payment Protection does not show "Protected by ESET" when using the latest Firefox browser Fixed: Various internal and localization bugs I guess that there is a typo at https://support.eset.com/news6628/ It says at the moment 11.0.158.x And there is another typo there IMHO. That page is just very new, so I guess the ESET folks have to edit it a bit.
This one there at https://support.eset.com/news6628/ : Do others see it there too, or is it just me? And, of course, the other typo there is the version number: It says 11.0.158.x And it should be IMHO 11.0.159.x
You're welcome, Thankful, and thanks to you too! I had a look at the ESET forum now. The new version 11.0.159.x is announced at the "ESET Internet Security & ESET Smart Security Premium" subforum there: https://forum.eset.com/forum/23-eset-internet-security-eset-smart-security-premium/ https://forum.eset.com/topic/14150-eset-windows-home-products-version-110159x-have-been-released/ but not at the "ESET NOD32 Antivirus" subforum there: https://forum.eset.com/forum/24-eset-nod32-antivirus/ I guess that they simply forgot to mention it there too. BTW, while you are at the ESET forum, don't forget to have a look at the "Holiday Message from ESET" by Aryeh Goretsky https://forum.eset.com/topic/14151-a-holiday-message-from-eset/ A nice message from Aryeh on behalf of ESET, with a personal note of him being now twelve years at ESET. It is great to have you Aryeh at ESET!
One of the things in version 11.0.159.0 that I noticed is that the colours in the logs have been changed. At one hand a change was needed, at the other hand the new light brown colour makes it harder for me to read them. I need big contrast and not those soft colours ... brrrrr .....
I hope he and Marcos both are appreciated for the assets they are to the company. There have been years in the past when I had renewed my subscription just because of them.
TOTALLY!! You should also follow the ESET team in Twitter. Countless numbers of security news and insights. I actually prefer reading their posts and enjoy learning the security landscape. Another thing to add is ESET users are more mature and not kids who cry when their products fail in AV tests. Their forum is always helpful and Marcos is always there whereas some forum you don’t get a reply for couple of days. Cheers!
Aryeh is the nicest guy - we always look forward to catching up with him and others at the partner conference each year.
