Sure, I understand that. Remember, on my W7, I still do updates at my own pace (usually, 2 to 3 weeks after they are released).

But what I am criticizing is that he bashes month after month with basically the same identical article. Short, same words, only the date changes and the KB number. Everything else is exactly the same. No real meat in his articles at all, never.

The only difference I have noticed, is this:
    Servicing stack update for Windows 10 Version 1703: November 14, 2017 - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-for-windows-10-version-1703-november-14-2017

I noticed that it didn't get installed until December 15 on my Surface Book. I believe their were issues for some after it had installed back in November. Apparently, once installed on the system, it was permanent!

I have no problems with 1709 on two different brand machines although I perform clean installs. Whether it is luck, time will tell, but I really wish MS would give users the possibility to stop major upgrades. For the record, I have tried to stop the upgrade from 1703 to 1709 on one machine with Window 10 home, by setting the Ethernet connection to "metered connections". It worked for a while but after a few days it tried to upgrade to 1709...

Yes, these servicing stack updates cannot be uninstalled.
There is a note about it (not on the latest one, but on the previous update):

Also, I never was offered this cumulative update in the Windows Patch Tuesday in November, and still haven't seen it -
    November 14, 2017—KB4048954 (OS Build 15063.726 and 15063.72)

But, I got the following cumulative update in December, which supplants it. :) - 2017-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4053580)

Thanks for that clarification. We just have to take it from Microsoft, regardless. ;)

I was hit by this problem last month and have already installed a separate NVIDIA graphics card to get round it so the update is now irrelevant - in fact the onboard graphics is disabled by BIOS. However I was offered the patch by Windows Update this week - Windows 10 1709..

But there is an issue. Although it says the patch is correctly installed it offers me it several times each time I reboot my machine. If I do a 'check for updates' I see it download and install the patch no less than five times! Clearly a bug...

I hate to see this at work, "Windows Modules Installer Worker"...It means I am about to get some update/updates on my system. But, I don't know what at this stage.

Seeing this process doesn't specifically mean it is installing updates, it is also doing "other tasks" (i can see this process each day for several minutes)

It started at about 8.00 pm and finished at 8.32 pm....looks like it was modifying various Microsoft files. It usually portends something.

    Hi mantra,

I use this Everything tool which is incorporated in my SecureAplus install as you can see from the following screenshot. I have a shortcut on the desktop to run Everything whenever I choose to open it. Obviously, SecureAplus must be licensed to use this tool by http://www.voidtools.com

I find it handy to use at times. No doubt you don't need to have SecureAplus installed to have the benefit of this tool.

P.S. Not sure what you mean by "enables usn journal on all device". I only have it on my laptop, C: drive.

As to my [recent] earlier posts, about ""Windows Modules Installer Worker". Does this mean "Something wicked this way comes", soon? ;)

I guess I will find out, soon.
