I just bought a laptop with Win10 (sob). Keriver is my favorite Imaging software -- I have used it for a long time & it's an old friend. Sadly, I discovered that Keriver 1-Click Restore software doesn't run on Win 10. Thus, I seek Win10-compatible Imaging software that (hopefully) is as simple & friendly as Keriver. ==>Suggestions for Imaging software that is reasonably like Keriver would be massively appreciated.
bellgamin, Your disk will be GPT. UEFI BIOS system. I tested Keriver 5.21 a few years ago on Win10 installed in UEFI BIOS mode. It couldn't restore an Entire Drive image. I can't recall what it looked like so I can't offer a look alike.
Veeam Agent FREE has a relatively clean and simple interface. https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/veeam-endpoint-backup-free.377485/ https://www.veeam.com/windows-endpoint-server-backup-free.html
@EASTER take a look at Paragon Backup & Recovery free. It is as easy as Keriver 1-click restore. Panagiotis
Macirum will give you a work out with 10. Excellent backup program, don't know about free. Good luck.
I will join altough I haven't Win10...K1-C woun't work on Win 8.1 also...so I'm searching for replacemant of it. I would like to have in new app the same feature of startup console which allow to recover system without opening it what is very useful for me.
@bellgamin, I can tell you (factually) that Veeam Agent For Windows (VAW) is able to backup to a USB Flash Drive! Although it doesn't have a 'startup console' like Keriver 1-Click, it has a very simple (user-friendly) interface, as @taotoo indicated. VAW is freeware, actively developed and fully supported by Veeam.
Hey folks Long time since I posted, hope you are all doing well! @Brian K or anyone... I still use IFL 2.88 for my imaging needs, cold imaging. I have recently installed windows 10 Pro x64 in an old Dell Inspiron laptop, no UEFI, MBR only. Is there any reason why I could not keep using IFl 2.88 to cold image windows 10? I figured it is no problem as it is MBR, no reason for IFL not to work and to restore properly. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this. Any help is appreciated. I figured I would ask, because if someone has an older machine with windows 10 installed using MBR and NO UEFI or GPT, I would think most cold imagers would work to image and restore as long as it is outside of windows and is not UEFI, etc. Thank you
Jim, No major issues in still using IFL 2.88. It will work with UEFI too. I'd consider upgrading to ver 2.99-00. http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/upgradehist-image-for-linux-v2.htm
Thanks so much Brian. I didn't see any reason it would not restore just fine being it is MBR. I used it the first time the other day to create an image, it worked like always. I have not tried a restore yet. When you say "no major issues", is there something I should be aware of? I just could not think there should be any issues as long as it is outside of windows and being it is MBR. Thanks I really appreciate your help. Good to see you also
Jim, for what it's worth there are lots of feature updates between 2.88 and 2.99-00. Maybe they aren't relevant to your usage but I prefer to use the latest functional version. You are licensed for 2.99-00. I'm using ver 3.13. Ver 3 needs a new paid license but I'm not suggesting you upgrade to ver 3 if you are happy with ver 2.
Oh for sure Brian, understood. I actually do have 2.99. I just always use 2.88 as it is on one of my slimmer flash drives that works better on my USB setup on the side of my laptop. I have several flash drives that are a bit too thick to fit my external HD USB connector under them comfortably. Been using IFL since Feb. 2012, it has been excellent. I have a simple set up for the work I do. I just image for backup reasons, then restore if I need to or choose to. I loved the fact that I could buy the license and have it cover all updates up to a major release version. I do plan on buying the new version 3 license soon. I also use Lazesoft recovery suite on my wife's new computer that has windows 10 home and is UEFI. Lazesoft works well, and they have very good support also. Thanks again, hope you are doing well Brian.
Jim, You can boot an IFL flash drive and create an entire drive image of the flash drive. This image can be restored to any other flash drive by using IFW, IFD or IFL. If you have BIBM you can have IFL on the HD and no boot media are needed.
Thanks Brian. Great advice. I have imaged one of my utility flash drives that has IFL 2.88 and some other utilities on it. Then I restore the image to another FD, it works great and IFL makes it easy to do this. By the way, I needed to do an image restore in IFL 2.88 last night of my Win 10 Pro x64. Worked perfect, i was very glad to see this and your help was a great assist. Thanks
