    So CCU is not a must. I'll swap from installed to portable just in case.
    Thanks

    @stapp @paulderdash

    Thanks, your supplied links did work with firefox. Something wrong with Slimjet that keeps redirecting me to the installer.exe download.

    Much obliged.

    No, I didn't say that. I just tried to explain one reason why CCleaner needs to update in response to previous question:

    Thank you very much. For the moment I'll use the portable that does not have the emergency file, rather than using a version with a deleted file.
    @anon, thank you too.

    If by clicking on disable there does nothing, you may have to delete the file inside CCleaner Program files folder.
    See posts,#691-696 As you can see I successfully deleted it there.

    o_O I don't get you.

    Your question was:
    "does anyone know how to disable the 'Emergency Updater'?"
    And my answer:
    You can disable the 'Emergency Updater via Autoruns (autoruns > scheduled tasks > uncheck "CCleaner Update").

    what i meant was the only place i could find it was the CCleaner program folder, until you directed
    me to autoruns exe and found it in 'scheduled task' :)

    No, just leave it as shown above. ("CCleaner Update" unchecked).

    Remove or disable the task, it does not matter, it will be enabled after the next install.
    Code:
    schtasks /DELETE /TN "CCleaner Update" /f
    schtasks /Change /TN "CCleaner Update" /Disable

    Hi TairikuOkami. I haven't updated CCleaner. Can the update task be deleted or disabled in Task scheduler?

    If it can, it wouldn't matter to me if it has to be done every time I update CCleaner. I just dont want the program to update automatically.

    Why people don't opt for the portable version? Their life would be much more simple.
    No Emergency Updater inside, in fact no updater prog at all.
