I will try it Horsti. Is it possible to ignore warning for deactivated instant messenger scanning, mail scanning and web scanning permanently?
Yes in order to have a new patch there is always a reboot required, but the notification was not from Kaspersky, it was windows who said there's a reboot required for a device on your computer.
The default was every two hours. You can change the frequency to a longer time but not shorter period. I don't have KAF installed anymore so can't give you the exact times.
I know. The reason I asked is, that KfA did not update for two days, and security-center complained about out of date protection...
Nothing changed in settings. The only thing I can think of, is that the machine missed the scheduled update time, because it was only used for 30 min. each day. I wish that signatures get updated, when the machine goes online, if schedule missed, .
You can start a database- update with a right click on the icon in taskbar, or open de Gui and hit update.
Not an option for friends and relatives machines. A warning from Windows Security Center makes my phone ring...
As far as i know you always need an internet connection to fully benefit kaspersky's cloud, you are always connected with the cloud. So if you use your computer only 30 minutes a day you will never get an update? I really can't believe it. Is it possible to ignore warning for deactivated instant messenger scanning, mail scanning and web scanning permanently?
A small word of caution regarding Kaspersky free in combination with Gmail. After a update yesterday Gmail stopped working with Emclient and Outlook2016, both received an IMAP error, A few times removing the account in the mail clients didn't resolve it so I decided to remove some security programs, after the removal of Kaspersky free Gmail started working again in the local clients. Let's hope this get fixed soon.
I also use eM client with a Gmail adress and have Kaspersky free, i dont have any of this problems that you mention ....
Thinking about installing this and was wondering if it's compatible with Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and can anybody recommend some tweaks to Kaspersky Free settings or are default ones ok?
It's fine with the Fall Update. There are not many settings to tweak on the free version so I just leave the defaults when I set it up.
It runs fine without any problems with Fall Creators Update. The default settings are enough. You may have to install the Kaspersky Root Certificate in Thunderbird or Browers.
But how many times does it connect to the cloud? I have always wondered about this since most AV's nowadays are connected to the cloud. I feel uncomfortable with AV's constantly connecting out, who knows what's being uploaded.
That's they way security industry is moving to... advantages are (depending on implementation) a software running lighter on the local system while maximizing remote systems computing capacity and preserving IPR of AV engines for companies. Drawbacks is data has to move over the internet and you need to trust the company doing it.
I finally uninstalled KfA from friends and relative machines. KfA did not update, if the scheduled was missed, but showed popups with special offers every day...
