    Thanks.

Interesting also the other article from Woody:

Martin Brinkmann at gHacks with his very extensive list:

May I just quote one part from gHacks, about TPM:

No problems on my main system with Windows 7 and Office 2010.
Both Windows Xp VM installations seems to hang at 100% CPU when looking for updates.
On my netbook I didn't get Windows 10 updates because of some error for few months now. Will try again and see how it goes.

Win 7 (with Office) updated with all updates.. no issues.

Win 10 finally updated. I had the slow download issue where it got stuck on 3% and then 0% when I tried again after a restart. Restarted again and left the room and it eventually installed :)

I just noticed I haven't received the update to Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 yet on any of my machines. Is this being released gradually? Or do I have a problem?

    Apparantly there isn't one.

    From link in #3374:

For those of you wondering what happened to this month’s Flash security patches, there’s a surprising answer: You aren’t seeing any Adobe security patches this month because there aren’t any! All of this month’s patches are quality updates, er, bug fixes.

"Microsoft's latest Patch Tuesday caused widespread BSOD Wednesday

Microsoft issues new fix to fix its shonky patches

Microsoft latest Patch Tuesday has been blamed for causing an endless 'blue screen of death' (BSOD) bootloop - forcing the company to rush out a fix. ..

However, many organisations have found that fixes have wreaked havoc on their business PCs, which have been in an endless reboot loop since attempting to install the patches...

Users have speculated that the mandatory update fails on systems with support for USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface (USCI), and suggest to go into the system BIOS and disable UCSI to apply the updates. However, other reported issues on systems without USB Type-C.

In a statement, Microsoft says that the issue has been fixed. Despite some reports that Windows 10 Home users have been affected by the borkage, the company confirmed that the issue only affected enterprise consumers and not those using Windows Update to install the patches..."

"Microsoft confirms fix for Windows devices facing BSOD after recent update...

According to Microsoft, the problem was caused by a "publishing issue" which impacted devices managed by Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). In other words, the Cumulative Update for Windows 10 version 1703 (KB4041676) and version 1607 (KB4041691), and Windows Server 2016 (KB4041691) was causing the issue for a subset of Windows 10 devices. Meanwhile, other customers who downloaded the update via Windows Update or Windows Update for Business remained unaffected by the issue..."

"In an emailed statement to Wccftech, a Microsoft spokesperson said that the issue has now been resolved and never impacted customers who receive updates via Windows Update. The company suggests that it only affected enterprise consumers." - http://wccftech.com/windows-10-pcs-bsod-bootloop/

"Microsoft is aware of a publishing issue with the October 10th, 2017 monthly security updates for Windows 10 version 1703 (KB4041676) and version 1607 (KB4041691), and Windows Server 2016 (KB4041691) for WSUS/SCCM managed devices. Updated my workstation to 16299.15 via Windows Update. Took over 1 hour to complete, slow as you know what. Task Manager now shows a GPU column, good. I don't know what "Windows My People" is, is this something mandatory, lol? Disk cleanup nets me over 25 GB. I'm sure there's more waiting to be uncovered. Think I'll do a clean install on second machine.

Just did the fall update thru Windows updates, took about 2 hours, No problems, everything running fine. Think I'm going to run with Defender for a few days to see how I like it as my Emsisoft subscription runs out in 5 days. I think Defender and VS is enough for now.

Update to WIN 1079 took about at least two hours+ -- not sure of the exact time cuz it was taking so long I just left it.

All seems good so far except lost Maxx Audio (a suite of advanced audio enhancement tools by Waves) that came as OEM with my PC. Hopefully I'll be able to get updated drivers some time. Big loss for me :-( But got to look at the bright side, e.g., I'll now be able to put lightning strikes and balloons in all my photos.
