Was it happening all the time or randomly?

Not all the time. But also not random? When it happened it was always the same set of sites affected, while others were not.

On the other hand, we'll announce IPv6 support on Monday.

I could be mistaken but Adguard DNS seems to be quite quick here now using (I'm guessing) the Sydney servers.

    Very nice!
    Code:

    C:\Windows\system32>ping 176.103.130.130

Pinging 176.103.130.130 with 32 bytes of data:
    Reply from 176.103.130.130: bytes=32 time=39ms TTL=55
    Reply from 176.103.130.130: bytes=32 time=34ms TTL=55

    Reply from 176.103.130.130: bytes=32 time=40ms TTL=55

    Ping statistics for 176.103.130.130:
        Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
        Minimum = 34ms, Maximum = 40ms, Average = 38ms
For me, that's very close to my ISPs times. :thumb:

@avatar It seems that the Adguard DNS filter at the usual location (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardDNS/master/Filters/filter.txt) has not been updated since 2017-07-12. So I looked around and realized now that your team is updating the list (and other related files) in a different branch (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardDNS/gh-pages/Filters/filter.txt).

Is the "gh-pages" branch going to remain as the permanent branch going forward for Adguard DNS?

Thank you for your time. :)

DNSCrypt has quit, but you needn’t worry

@avatar: Are you also going to make DNS over TLS available outside the mobile Apps? When?

I'm experimenting with DNS over TLS on my router (using unbound) to replace DNSCrypt and would like to use AdGuard servers as well.

I am not worried, I will simply use an unencrypted DNS via UDP again, rather than a fishy DNS over TLS. :cautious:

But I sincerely hope, that someone will continue dnscrypt. There were many good projects dying over the years, but someone always managed to create an alternative.

I am just an amateur, so I can not comment about technical details (why I prefer UDP over TCP, like MITM), but everything else about it just seems wrong. Quad is basically the only real DNS over TLS pushed worldwide, it started only 3 months ago (Tenta recently) and suddenly dnscrypt was forced to end. Considering, who is behind Quad, it could as well be run by NSA.

Huh? What exactly seems wrong? (@Stefan Froberg : could you intervene?)

Well, there are several more available. I'm using the two SurfNet servers at the top without problems.

Frank is back so everything is not that bad for DNSCrypt.

We've just integrated AdGuard for iOS with dnscrypt-proxy v1, and once this new version is released we will try to help him with dnscrypt-proxy v2 mobile port.
Meanwhile, everything said about DNS over TLS stays true. Being standardized is a huge advantage.

I am on the east coast of USA and started adguard dns today. It is very fast for me. Is there a list for the adguard dns servers in the USA and around the world.

I can recommend this. Version 2.0.7 has recently been released. It's the version that comes with Simple DNSCrypt and what I've been using https://simplednscrypt.org/ Adguard DNS is an option which I also use. Also of note this version of DNSCrypt-Proxy has the CoinBlockerLists from here https://github.com/ZeroDot1/CoinBlockerLists built in so you get system wide protection.

@avatar There were some major changes in the Adguard DNS today regarding changing over to CoreDNS. I am not familiar at all with CoreDNS. If you have a moment, could you explain what these changes mean for Adguard DNS? What are the Pros over the previous setup? Thank you for your time.
