Thanks, guys. I'm thinking right now that I will wait until October 1st, re-up with Emisoft Anti-Malware and go with Windows Firewall. Is there anything else I should add to that combo to take place of Emisoft internet security? I have voodooshield,Malwarebytes and hitmanpro alert also.

If you asked me I'd say that's more than enough, as long as you have image backups and backups of important files to restore from should you need it / them.

I have EasySync CryptoMonitor and CryptoPrevent installed, are these two still sufficient in protecting against ransomware?

CryptoMonitor is abandonware. The dev joined Malwarebytes and that solution was further developed as MalwareBytes 3 Anti-Ransomware module.

Re CryptoPrevent, I would PM @cruelsister and obtain her respected advice based on what she has found in testing. (Although I notice you are a new poster, so you probably won't have the ability to use the PM function yet).

    Hi guys,
Could anyone suggest a "good" free antivirus, or "combo" security setup for me?, I have a relatively "good" PC: (Intel Core i5-6500, 16GB DDR4 2400 RAM, SSD), and it's a home network, with only one PC connected to the internet.
    OS: Windows 10 Version 1703 (x64) Enterprise.
    Thanks :).

Zemana AntiMalware (Tried malwarebytes anti-malware but oh my gosh! :gack: never again)
    AdGuard

    Sticky Password Manager
    ProtonVPN

That's it. No reason to change anything. :) Smoooth

Avira Free AV https://www.avira.com/en/free-antivirus-windows (good alternatives are Avast Free and Bitdefender Free, but I prefer Avira)
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free (on-demand scans only, no real-time protection) https://www.malwarebytes.com/
Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Beta (real-time browser exploit protection, need to install this after Anti-Malware, because it gets removed. Anti-exploit is now included in Anti-Malware premium)
    https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/205225-mbae-110-latest-standalone-beta/
Malwarebytes AdwCleaner (on-demand adware cleanser) https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/
    VoodooShield Free https://voodooshield.com/
Chrome or Firefox as primary browser.
uBlock Origin (browser extension for Chrome and Firefox, easy automatic ad and malware site filtering)

There are probably a few other good options, but this is what I use, and I think this outlines a decent layered security protection for free. On my main desktop, I also run the premium HitmanPro.Alert instead of Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Beta, but on my other two computers I stick with Anti-Exploit.

Sure ! ;) And it would be even longer considering all discontinued software that I loved: System Safety Monitor, GesWAll, Online Armor...

Real-time protection: Malwarebytes Premium and Windows Defender, Windows Firewall Control
Firefox hardening: uBlock Origin, Bitdefender Traffic Light, Norton ConnectSafe
    On-demand scanners: HitManPro, adwCleaner, VTUploader
    Backup: Iperius Backup

Is this setup OK for an average user like me whose level of paranoia is low to non-existent?

Mine is in my signature - I continue to use Windows Defender because it seems to be fine now and will probably improve Oct. 17. MBAM 3.2 is running great on 2 pc's and a laptop.
My main safety net is Macrium Reflect - doing daily incremental and weekly full backups.

It seems good to me. Not too much but at the same time all important bases are covered.

    Agreed!!! :thumb:

My plan is to restore a Macrium image taken prior to the malware getting aboard. All that my security software is intended for is to prevent getting any malware, and if that fails, to alert me that I need to do a restore!!!

Similar, except I'm not using MB in real-time and I have HitmanPro.Alert installed.

All machines behind NAT + SPI firewall.

All machines have regular image backups using Macrium Reflect.

    1. Norton Security + HitmanPro.Alert.
    2. Windows Firewall Control + Avast free (Custom install) + HMP.A.
    3. Windows Firewall Control + Windows Defender + HMP.A.

What did you keep from Avast custom installation? Do you see any ads or nag screen?
    Thanks :)

Just File Shield, Behaviour Shield, Mail Shield (because why not?) and Web Shield with no browser extensions.

I've only installed Avast in the last few hours but no, so far no ads or nag screens. I'm sure they will come though. From my faded memory, I think after a few days to a week but I'm not sure about the timing. I am sure I'll see them though.
