Just a question - not arguing with leaving CC. But, is it REALLY necessary or can it possibly be saved? I don't have any problems yet, as far as I can tell. And, I've used CC forever, it seems, just want to do the right thing, but be certain it is best decision.

The "right thing" to do, the "best decision" are subjective, depend on your preferences and tolerance to risk. I will continue using CCleaner latest version for the time being. And the most important thing is to create system backups regularly.

BleachBit 2.0 uses more RAM and CPU.

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results"

If you really feel some kind of undeniable urge to "clean" your Windows machine, use the built in disk cleanup utility. Stop trusting 3rd party software you simply do not need.

What I only miss in WDC is a safe registry cleaner. I used it in CCleaner regularly.

    KCleaner isn't too bad either.

I just yank the keys out myself, like teeth. :) Doesn't Wise have a standalone registry cleaner also?--not as convenient, though.

Tried BleachBit and enabled Deep Scan, wow, a little harsh, right? Nine minutes' worth on here. Both WDC and BB compromised a security software after cleaning and I haven't been able to narrow the cause down. But the software was easily reset and since it's beta, hopefully, this can get straightened out.
Think I'll stick with BleachBit for the time being, just disable the Deep Scan part.:thumb:.

of all cleaners ccleaner has the smallest impact, the rest is either totally crap or no preview or or or (missing).
lost in what? its 5.33 32-bit which is insecure, just go 5.34 - and dont let it go online or LAN. ccleaner needs not network - never needed!
    no network - no impact!

Right. I didn't notice it. I will give it a try. Thanks for the hint. ;-)

Edit 1: Have found out that Wise Care 365 combines the file and registry cleaner plus additional features. Will it give it a try.

Edit 2: Hmm. Wise care 365 is full of features I don't need and don't want, so I installed Wise Registry Cleaner along with Disk Cleaner. Rather to have two separate applications than one with the full of unwanted things.

Wisedisk Cleaner, seems to do a better job than Ccleaner to me, especially to remove Windows Updates huge backup files.

Definitely. I cleaned my machine with CCleaner, then uninstalled it and installed WDC and it found 1,3GB of junk and another 1GB of old windows installations.

For those of you using Wise Disk Cleaner, do you accept the default settings and do you accept everything it finds and then click "clean"? I've used CCleaner for so long, I'm leery about trying other products. CCleaner is now off of all of my systems and I'm looking for an alternative. I'm curious, though, if Wise Cleaner will find much since I already use Kerish Doctor?!

I went through all cleaning options and tweaked it a bit more than recommended.
Useless Files in PC - enabled all options.
Traces in PC - windows system and windows components - enabled all options; cookies - all except browsers I use; Surf the Internet - generally enabled all except passwords, addresses and pre-saved information.

What happened? Suddenly quite a number of people want an alternative to CCleaner, am I missing something?

Do you have VoodooShield by any chance, the beta 4.05? I had some problems with Wise and BleachBit using VS beta only. May try @_CyberGhosT_ 's recommendation for Privacy Eraser two posts down.

If I can speak, the main reason I left was the loss of trust due to recent security problem and mainly due to Piriform's attitude - they're doing like nothing serious happened, so don't worry, be happy with CCleaner. At least it's my view.

There used to be a program called Clean Sweep by Quarterdeck that I tested for. Symantec bought them out. Maybe Symantec sells it as a standalone?
Clean sweep is part of Norton Utilities now.
