Aside from Webroot, (I know I'll hear otherwise) I've never seen anything lighter.....

However, this subscription thing has got to go. Their pricing has gotten out of hand.

Yep, it runs very smoothly and silently. Finally AV, I can finally rely on and recommend.

But you could have been relying on WRSA, the first cloud based anti malware product, which it seems others have now copied.;)

It is working very well for me too for the most part. I get BSODs when I'm downloading multiple files with FrostWire. However, that's the only time, and it is extremely light.

This is only happening with the free version. When I was using an extended trial of Panda Global Protection, I had no BSODs. That is despite Global Protection being an outdated product, and Panda Free having been updated for Creators Update compatibility.

Even after trying many free AV, I keep getting back to Panda Free AV. I find it extremely light.

People are talking about McAfee Cloud Free AV. Is it even comparable to Panda Free ?

Panda Free is getting the latest updates and fixes while the paid products are abandonware, I really like Panda management. :D

Well you can get the latest updates if you buy a monthly subscription, which is something I don't want to do. But, Panda are still promoting the old products on their websites.

    It does not make sense.

Panda support is abyssmal. Dunno if theres a difference when you're using paid though. But it took them months to add a sample and up to now they haven't fixed FPs I reported. Latest Panda free requiring .Net also seems very buggy when you check their abandoned forums. Lol. Product development seemed to have stalled to slowed down as well.

But yes indeed Panda is light, quiet and they still support old versions. :)

I reported a false positive to them nearly two months ago, and never received a reply. When I last scanned the file, a week or two ago, it was still detected.

Another computer with Panda Free version 17 here. Some installations never get an auto-upgrade, even Paid versions seem to be affected. Never got an answer from support, is Panda software abandonware? o_O

Well the traditional paid products are discontinued and there is no version 18. I've found the support to be terrible too. I emailed Panda about a false positive a few months back and never received a reply.

However, at the moment, there's no other antivirus that fits my needs.

Speaking of moments... several weeks ago I dropped Panda on pure whim (because, really, I had no complaints about Panda other than reservations about its longevity based on this thread and maybe others) and switched to AVG because of its recent stellar test results as shown via other threads on this site. An hour later I kicked that app back out to the sidewalk. Great protection aside, I couldn't weather the neon billboard point of the AVG freebie to upgrade, upgrade, upgrade,... yada yada. Switched back to my original fave freebie and it's there to stay as long as they continue to update and develop---->>> Bitdefender Free. Download and forget about it with killer excellent protection to boot. If you need lots of bells and whistles to float your boat, keep moving on. Otherwise, Bitdefender just silently kicks arse in the background and takes no prisoners.

I need at the very least, the option to disable auto quarantine, which rules out Bitdefender. Also I experienced some issues with BD Free, last time I tried it.

Yes, but only a few products are not completely useless when cloud access is unavailable. Sadly, Panda does not fall into this category.

I do not know how people trust their security to products that either go half dead (McAfee, Panda) or start shooting blanks (FP galore, "reputation" defections in webroot, Symantec) whenever the moment their internet connection gets a snag (and it's more common than people think). There are many, many computers I have had the "pleasure" of disinfecting, protected by these products.

IMHO even anti executable or behaviour based programs do a better job than so called cloud scanners. I mean, why can't they make a graceful exit rather than dragging their illustrious brand equity into the mud?

    Panda forum:
Mainly are Fireall changes and quarantine file restoration changes.
Only quarantine restoration changes will affect the free version, as free version does not support firewall
    New: VPN

Yes, being able to disable auto-quarantine is a biggie for me as well.
