Tinywall could become the greatest front-end firewall for windows firewall, but like you said he's slacking.

Really liking WFC, after playing with it for a few days, can do what TW does and more. A little intimidating at first, with more patience and practice probably will be my choice, and it is always updated, and support is outstanding.

The don't close threads unless they become nasty. The only things I have seen them close is forum sections. Tiny works fine for my purposes. Very easy to se and does a lot of stuff. I am sticking with it. I have no problem accessing the web site using Edge.
You can contact the developer here. tinywall@pados.hu

I do too, except for the occasional crash.
WFC requiers NF 4.6 >. That's what make tinywall a winner.

Firewall actually does nothing cause you can't install it, and a normal user not want to mess with that (what you think or if you bypass this is secondary). Generally there is a rule when it comes to software, which means if 10 people are tested and it does work for 9 you failed because the one on which it doesn't work will immediately drop the product no matter how good the product might be (see Threema .. no one want to pay 1,99 for this app).

I don't see were this threads leads cause there is nothing more to discuss, the developer not opened the source, he not response and the product needs some fixes. If you want security you have to stay on the line and in this case merge the Windows changes.

The thread again should be locked and re-opened, well this is not the only thread here on wilders, but the last 10 pages are fully irrelevant anyway because it makes no sense to waste time writing things here which you never get a reply on the developer status.

Ps: We have an edit button.

The forum admins will make the determination of when to close a thread. You are welcome to feel free to not read or participate in it.

First...do you know software without bugs?
Second...it's better to know bugs than not...right?

The thing is, the developer gave up and not even response to emails or release the source. So it's not helpful to leave threads open to complain about or to show what's bugged when no one can fix it. As said the firewall was good but the problem with one-man Project is that when there is no source you're doomed in case something happened.

To suggest people using certificates which are on the blacklist already isn't a good advise, especially from so called experts. I expect from 'security' projects to stay up to date with fixes asap otherwise it should be mentioned in OP.

As I said that is a decision of management. You are free to ignore this thread.

Thanks, pls update OP with the info that this isn't currently proper working as I showed and an info that it's 'discontinued' and I would be happy. All I'm asking for.

Works for some. Why so anxious to shut this tread down?
He does show once in awhile (yearly or so), I admit not enough.

Because the thread is misleading since there is no active 'Beta test', the homepage and the app use invalid certs (I get emails from users because of this) and there isn't enough info given to clarify the status. I contacted the developer 1,5 years via email and I never got a response. I think that's long enough.

I understand, but it is not enough to shut down a thread.
    Do you work for ms?

If there would be development we would get status updates + certificate changes + known issue fixes, especially on Windows 10. I would do it myself and release the fixed version but I have no permission or any change to contact the developer.

My last words in this thread, rest is OT.

    I think CHEFKOCH is right!
Nothing personal against this thread and/or the dev. of tw. But when u need assistance for an discontinued security soft full of issues and the dev. is missing from a while there is no reasons to continue.

beta testing tinyall thread - for an "quasi" outdatet tool?:thumbd::confused:
Its a pitty because tw was a great piece of tool.

Shut down a thread because YOUR expecting to read something?
A lot of useful info here.
What a waste of a mind.

Now I see your angle trying to start something so they will close the thread. Very sneeky.

Oh, okay! So if the thread was renamed, or a new one started that didn't include the words beta or testing, you would be fine with that?

Maybe I finally see your point, but after almost six years and over 50 pages of posts, I think most people are smart enough to figure it out, and are still reading and posting on this thread because they still have an interest in it.

But I wonder; if the words "Beta" and "Testing" were removed from the title, would that really make you happy, or would you complain that without those words people may think it's continually developed and 100% reliable, and the thread should be closed because of that?

By the way; I don't keep up with Avira, but should the thread titled "Avira VPN 0.9.10.31406 Beta" started by CHEFKOCH be closed, or is Avira VPN 0.9.10.31406 still in beta after well over a year as people running across the thread might be fooled into thinking otherwise? https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/avira-vpn-0-9-10-31406-beta.384467/ Not that people are showing any interest anyway.

    :thumb: Didn't think of that.

Maybe he could offer Wilders a bribe to close the thread if it bothers him that much.

But as I've posted before on other threads, I always get a kick out of people who read and post on threads to criticize people for reading and posting on threads. :D

(BTW: the developer last appeared in April and announced he was working on a new version after having been absent from the forum for almost a year (May 2016) if I'm not missing something. So I'm still hopeful maybe the developer had a clue what he was talking about despite CHEFKOCH declaring the project dead. Maybe I don't know what I'm doing, but as long as TinyWall still seems to be working for me as expected, I plan on continuing to use it. If it quits working for me, or if some issue I'm unaware of becomes apparent, then maybe I'll try Windows Firewall Notifier again if it appears mature enough. Though, to be honest, I'm not sure that any Windows Firewall controller has ever saved me from anything or is likely to. Though I do like using it at least to make sure things I'm not aware of aren't calling home.)
