Nanobot, that was there hours ago, and while the Release Notes have just been updated, it still not available via Internal Updater.

Wrong it wasn't there hours ago as you said and the release notes updated now because it's officially available now, that's why.

No mantra, my freezing and bookmarks problem is no longer an issue, so far. It was fixed with this new update.

Those numbers seems high to me, cold start ram for me is about 150MB. And with 4 forum tabs open is about 200MB (W10).
Edit: For you to compare, with 4 tabs open, 2 of them videos in YouTube, and watching 1 video for about an hour, my ram is about 410MB.

this concerns all regular (non-ESR) firefox, not only v54.

I just hate the future - insofar as changing the browser design is concerned.

Fortunately, you don't have to accept pointless progress for the sake of progress.

Well it takes a lot of resources to facilitate tracking, surveillance, intrusion, data retrieval and direct marketing.
Funny when you consider all it takes is about 3 lines of code to retrieve a webpage in a telnet client and all a browser is supposed to do is take that and convert it to a viewable format which shouldn't really take more than a 500kb app.
Web browsers today are nothing more than big fat bloated trojan horses.

Look at this beautiful web browser we made for you out of millions of lines of code :)

Wow thats awesome, how much is it?

No, you don't have to pay for it, we made it for you as a gift :)

A gift? For me!! I can hardly believe it thank you so much!! How can I ever repay you?

Oh it will make us happy just to know you installed it to your computer and are useing it for all your online activities... *smirk*.

I am not sure if you are complaining about Firefox or not but I tell you, 150MB when starting Firefox is pretty low. I stream live baseball, football games regularly, when I do, I can spend 3 hours straight using Firefox. Today's Firefox in W10 or W7 uses less than 200MB when I am watching games. I used to use my XP for this games, easily RAM was up to 600MB after a little while. Better system? Better Firefox? Whatever the reason why is better now doesn't really matter, what matters is that it is better. Clear cut difference.

64-bit browsers will always use more RAM than the 32-bit versions... because they can.

    Re: Firefox 55 Release Notes.
Because I have 8 GB of RAM in my desktop PC, I've been playing around with the above settings, and just raising the content process to 2 (1 is default in my 32-bit version), Firefox becomes a lot quicker! Worth a try... if you have the RAM. :)

I believe this new option is the same as dom.ipc.ProcessCount in About:Config ( ? )

    Just read this:

    "Update

Now in Firefox 54, you should have Electrolysis on by default. You should check out the option dom.ipc.processCount and if it is still 1, turn it higher to match the physical core count or if you know you use hyperthreading (most Core i7 and i3 on desktop, most Core i5 and i7 in laptops, AMD Ryzen) it is double that."

Yes. Exactly after changing of the value in the GUI (performance settings), the value of the option dom.ipc.processCount is also changed.
