AVAST and AVG better than KAspersky Avira definitely better than Emsisoft ( although its problem seemed only to be user depended ) ....... what the plumb is going on ?

    Thanks, Thankful.

Once again, that yellow "caution" bar on the graph for Emsisoft, just saying that it's probably a very beneficial thing Emsi is getting out of that arena come October. Couldn't find whether Auto Resolve was implemented and whether that had any effect on the score. Other members pointed this out in the prior month's study but results seem largely unchanged to me this month.

    Microsoft did OK, right?

Okay last month free competitors didnt do so well and now suddenly they are at 100%.

It does look funny with ups and downs... but keep it up all the 3 A's.Come on guys emsi did well just the yellow pushing it back they are still a very good program. ;)

Concerning my comment, this has nothing to do with Emsisoft's quality and everything to do with how a traffic-light color combination elicits a gut-level reaction when it comes to these graphs and decision-making/sales. These studies can be very influential on all sides. As of October, you shouldn't be seeing Emsisoft in these comparatives any longer, and I'm wondering if these yellow bars played a role in that. I guess Malwarebytes and some others will be its competitors then.

This happens to be a "little" interest of mine, apologies if it is not to anyone else.

According to AV Comparatives, the Emsisoft product tested in July was Emsisoft Anti-Malware 6.0 (which is strange).

Emsisoft 2017.7.0.7838 was released on 01.08.2017
In July it was still version 2017.6.0

Yeah, I saw that, hawki, hmmm.

Well does that mean Emsisoft Anti Malware will still be in the same testing arena as the Internet Security products after October? Should it not be with Malwarebytes and some others then? Does not compute.

Maybe it was included because Emsisoft has been part of this particular test for so long.

Also note that Trend Micro IS and Avira Pro for the recent past has participated in this test.

If Emsisoft has enough confidence in EAM to go up against products with firewalls -- Kudos to them. (Though not sure what,if anything, EMIS' firewall per se would do in this test.) In any event, Emsisoft does not filter web traffic for, at least, privacy reasons.

    100% detection -- not too shabby a result :)

We never participated with EIS in AV-C and never had any plan to. The discontinuation of EIS has no influence on our AV-C participation. Why would it?

Thank God, I almost posted a whopper. @FabianWosar: OK that answers my questions but do you find the yellow can affect your potential sales negatively? Lots of uninitiated people out there who don't bother to read the fine print. Do you care? lol.

To be honest how many people outside of fora like this would even know of such tests? People I know have never even heard of AV-C let alone about anti-malware testing so they're clueless about the "yellow" marking.

I agree. Regular users usually don't follow AV test and results.

On the various Internet Security main pages you might find logos of the comparatives labs, there's a channel. Then, there's the recent mass security breaches which have people researching and re-evaluating what security they have now. Then there are the ones who are savvy about these comparatives and are considering changing their products. Various marketing techniques are something I watch, often with amusement*.

In such a lucrative and competitive industry, confidence doesn't pay the bills and neither does integrity, sad to say. But I'm talking from another perspective and one should focus on the performance values and nothing else I guess.

Edit: what was the first thing you saw on this post?

Usually those link lead to AV webpages where awards are listed (usually good results on various tests). User can of course google those testing organisations and check results there, but IMO not a lot of them will go so far.

In this chart, there are no percents, just points...

But yes, I find MS very slow too.

Sorry, how often do you use a quick scan? It should be faster in on-execution or on-Access. There it is definitiv slow... After every download a pause, after every opening a Directory with many .exe I can have a coffeetime....

Agreed. I have no performance issues with WD.
