What the hell, this gives me a fantasy that someone will develop a new browser engine, based on Presto. I still hate Opera for killing Presto and for not making it open source. Browsers based on Chromium are too bloated, let's hope Mozilla will do a better job with the new Firefox.
Well, people are working on improving Opera 12.15 little by little. You can see the work being done by going to https://github.com/PrestoXen/openopera-patches.
12.15? kidding? current stable for all OS ist 12.18 (windows: 12.18.1872.0) anyhow who cares about presto - its outdated, not state of the art for web content. sorry for mistake, should be "who" instead "who_r_e"
Absolutely perfect for a deconstructionist approach to the media. Most web content is distracting bloat around a small grain of real content. This is especially true of media sites. These days, I'm finding that Presto being outdated and improperly rendering them is often an advantage and if that isn't enough, I just love to hit the Author/Mode/User Mode button and substitute the websites style sheet with my own. That is just one of the bag of tricks that Opera Presto holds. 12.15 is the leaked version and the patches are based on the leaked source code. That is the most current version for Linux, the newer versions are strictly Windows and are mostly minor but important patches. Wow, that didn't take long to happen, the leak was only last week.
Someone on the IRC channel (#openopera on crowley.anonnnet.org:6697 via SSL) is trying to get it to work on the PS3 (which uses a PowerPC chip). EDIT: He's compiling it right now. EDIT2: It failed because the curl source code/libraries wasn't/weren't added to it.
Current Otter Browser project is a revival of the best features of the beloved Opera Presto browser. Its written in QT5 rather than Presto. A fast little browser.

The ones mentioned in the forum post at http://forum.timsky.ru/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=138. There will never be an official version of Opera 12.x anymore since they switched to using Blink as the rendering engine.
Vivaldi using blink is the closest you'll get in a new supported browser. By the original Opera owner after his non-compete ran out.
I don't believe Blink is bloated, it's Chromium that is. And again, I would advice people to stay away from non-official Opera 12 versions that were not released by Opera.
I'm keeping my eye on Redox OS which is a new OS built from the ground up based on Rust which is sponsored by Mozilla (I believe). They have a browser built for it now but its in the very, very early stages. Just something to look at - sorry if this looks like a highjack attempt - its not intended as such. I would LOVE to see the old Opera brought back to life. They were supposed to release a new engine and other things when they announced they were moving to Chromium. Things that you need an extension for now with chrome or FF it just did out of the box. https://github.com/redox-os/redox

I would like to see a new HTML net that dumps all the bloated internet technology and uses only HTML as the www was originaly intended. There are plenty of unused ports that could be used for that instead of 80
1. Here's a link to a newer custom made build: https://u.teknik.io/wLUu9.zip 2. I made a Discord Server for it. You can join it by going to https://discord.gg/WV9s9uw.
I gave it a quick VM test. I didn't find any advantage over Opera 12.18. Any sites that had rendering issues rendered the same with no improvements. No 64 bit version either. Opera 12 was ahead of the game with 64 bit support and I use the 64 bit version.
1. There has not been any work done on its rendering engine. 2. Someone just has to compile a 64-bit version of it.
