Thanks man. I know about the Adguard showing up in the battery stats and all. However I can tell you from personal experience having it installed does really make my battery drain faster. That is why I prefer something like DNS66 instead.
Mentioned in the second link, maybe you should take a look at this: https://blog.adguard.com/en/great-battery-saving-mode-of-adguard-for-android/ DNS66 didn't seem to work well for me, too many ads slipped by. If it does work for you, then it may be better (especially if you don't have an Adguard license).
Hi! You can exclude it in the Apps Management. Please let me know if it helps, we'll do it by default then in the next update. I wouldn't recommend using AAK anymore since reek is gone and does not support it anymore.
That's what I did, both disabling route app traffic through Adguard and Ad blocking for Samsung Gear worked. That's news to me... How about adding this to Adguard for Android?: https://jspenguin2017.github.io/uBlockProtector/
The guy tried to sneak in a JS alert & redirect specifically for AG users. Nope, we will never add anything he touched.
Regarding anti-adblocking, AG annoyances filter has quite a lot of rules which are supposed to handle anti-adblock messages. Just report it to us. Also, we're planning to introduce a brand new extension, the only purpose of which will be handling the anti-adblocking techniques.
Avira browser safety extension says ...... ad blocking by Adguard ..... Is there anything more avatar can tell us about this.
Wrong thread I guess. Anyways, it actually has AG code under the hood. It does not allow changing settings or choosing which filters to use, though, maybe will be in future, it's up to Avira devs.
Forgot to add that, thanks! That browser extension, how will it affect Adguard for Android? Is it standalone, or require the main browser extension or Adguard Desktop?
It's too early to announce yet, so at the moment I can just tell what I have in my mind: 1. It will be cross-blocker and cross-browser; 2. I'd like it to be compiled into a browser extension, userscript, and an Adguard filter, whichever user prefers more;
I know that android supports $app modifier and recently it was added to the Windows program as well. My question is how do I configure Adguard in such a way that an app only gets filtered through certain filter lists and not others. For e.g Suppose I have Firefox and chrome browser in my phone. And I have subscribed Adguard with English, Spyware, Social and Mobile Filter Ads. I want my Chrome app to be filtered through all these filter list but the firefox app to be filtered only through Mobile Filter Ads.(Don't ask why I just do it for testing) Is there any particular setting for the above scenario to be achieved? Maybe a filter rule that says don't apply 'this-this' filter list to 'this' app.(Like an exception filter rule) or use 'this' filter list for 'this' app only? I know it can be done manually(time-consuming and repetitive) but I'm looking for ease of doing this.
The $app modifier works on a per-rule basis, so it can't really help with this. Frankly, I don't see any simple solution The only thing that comes to my mind is to preprocess Adguard filters, transform the rules adding $app modifier to every one of them and then import that new transformed file into your user filter. This transformation requires some programming skills, but it's easier than doing it manually anyway.
Hello @avatar When running both Adguard for Android & Adguard Content Blocker, I have noticed that Adguard Content Blocker do show some blocking records. May I know, are these records originated from Adguard for Android (it should be the one blocking)? Thank you!
Mm, I might be not understanding something, content blocker has no filtering log. Could you please share a screenshot with these blocking records?
Hi, Thanks for the reply. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough , this is what I am referring to. With Adguard for Android enabled, Adguard Content Blocker (using Samsung Internet, this is the only extension I have) still shows blocking counts.
Ah, got it That's the same thing that happens on desktops with AG for Windows and ordinary browser extensions. The thing is that browser extension works inside of a browser, hence it can prevent requests before they get to AG. However, AG is capable of modifying pages content, and it can remove ad & tracking elements from it even before browser learns that they exist. Some of the elements aren't removed as it's more convenient to block them afterward, and that's why you see that something is blocked by the content blocker.
Eventually, we will return to this issue. But we should first finish with the new super cool filtering engine integration (codename "corelibs"). This is a big deal: faster, better, cross-platform (it will be used on Mac and Win as well). Having a single cross-platform engine will make it much easier to extend the filtering capabilities (unlike the current situation when we have to introduce the same change in three different apps). Android will be the first app to get it, and it will happen soon, maybe even in the next nightly build.
I was testing the parental control on my son's phone and rather than the normal block page I get this
