It isn't all false. they are correct that some rather critical features are disabled in the free version such as system watcher and roll back. free Kav is a more traditional AV without the proactive stuff.
Keep in mind it may detect some legitimate software downloads as malware. To keep it from blocking them, add them to exclusions or turn off KAV.
The only way you'd know sure if KAV was the culprit was to uninstall Adguard Premium. Its difficult to tell what causes system instability. You'd have see to see the system logs. If that turned out to be a KAV driver, usual course of action is to file a bug report with the developer so it can be fixed. I'm not running UWP apps on my version of Windows 10 and KAV has been largely trouble-free in practice.
So I ran into a false positive today while extracting a hosts file to view its contents. Kaspersky doesn't make things easy to bypass the prompt action. You are only offered options to Disinfect, Delete or Block, but not Skip... kinda weird. The file isn't quarantined, but deleted outright, so I couldn't even restore the file. What I had to end up doing was pausing protection entirely from the system tray for 1 minute so I could extract and open the file to view. Is there something I'm not seeing in Kaspersky that allows me to bypass the prompt?
False positives are to be expected. Kaspersky allows you to ignore a file if you think it might a false positive and it won't try to disinfect or delete the file.
I use KAF since since its availability and it always has quarantined suspect files. It never deletes anything without your consense. You have to set "Do not delete probably infected objects" under Settings / General / Interactive protection. You also should set "Notify" for action on thread detection under Settings / Scan
Does the mail scanner work with Thunderbird? Last time I checked (2 or 3 years ago) only Avast's did.
Yes, it works for me with Thunderbird 52.2.1 if you allow the SSL scanning. One should also set "Allow antivirus clients to quarantine individual messages" under Thunderbird Options / Security / Antivirus
anyone having issue with Thunderbird email? with kaspersky enable i cant send/receive email only when i exit/disable kaspersky free then i am able to receive email.
Hello, you must install the kaspersky certificate manually and be sure to check all three options. After that you will have functional thunderbird. Greetings.
Installed it once again to test it's lightness compared to Windows Defender. Even after uninstalling secure connection, instant messenger scanning, mail scanning, web scanning and Firefox add-on it's not as light as Windows Defender. I accept the superior detection but I won't keep or recommend it because it's slowing down browsing on my very fast computer. How about your experiences?
i added the Kaspersky cerf manually and tick the three checkbox but is still unable to send/receive emails. disabling kaspersky free allow me to receive email..
I have tested KFA for 1 day than uninstalled, it was slowing down browsing and some websitepages have many problems to load completly....
Doesn't sound too good. What other security tools are you guys using? I wonder if it's some conflict, or if KAV Free is simply crap.
When tested KFA : it was the only AV , than i have tried BD free (1.0.8.33) for a few days and browsing was very good and much faster than KFA, but returned to avast (one of my favorites for free AV) which also have a very low impact on the system.
I installed K-free on an old workstation with an i7 and SSD that had been running Windows Defender and VoodooShield w/no impacts. Windows Defender shut off as expected. The interface is nice and easy, I had K enabled at startup but it doesn't show in task manager's startup programs. Takes 117 mb disk space along with Secure Connection. Gets along great with VoodooShield. No impacts on performance w/shutdown/restart/startup or Windows app functions. No prob. browsing using Edge w/uBlock and Adguard, no issues with gmail so far. Quick scan took 10 sec. to do 301 files at 10% CPU max. Great first impression overall but conditions on here make it very easy for K and Defender. Edit: hmm, thought my first post didn't post. Then saw that it did so deleted it. Also corrected CPU percentage for quick scan, not full. Sorry.
Try to disable injecting the script and hijacking SSL. Additional - Network - Disable Inject script/Do not scan encrypted connections. Protection - Disable Web/IM/Mail / Performance - Disable Idle Scan/Enable Postpone Computer scan
Went back and read some earlier posts, particularly about uninstall issues. I uninstalled Kaspersky free from Apps and Features, no removal tool. I looked at it for a few seconds, went to get a cup of coffee and when I came back, the restart prompt was on the screen. Again, not much on here to interfere with K, just VoodooShield, and since Adguard is in Edge already, I didn't enable the web filtering. There were remnants in Program Data and Program Files (x86) and a bunch of registry entries. I'd like to see how it does in comparatives, since it was actually pretty nice performance-wise on this older machine. Edit: It was necessary to remove the folders in safe mode.
I just installed Kaspersky Free and it didn’t ask for a registration email and just activated the yearly license. Maybe they changed their minds. Edit: never mind it asked for a registration.
