Slightly off topic (though sort of 'whitelist related' in the context of all the new MS services mentioned by @Cutting_Edgetech above) ...
@Lockdown IIRC you use Sordum's Easy Service Optimizer (ESO). Do you still recommend this? Is it safe to use, would it cause problems now in Win 10, even in safe mode?

LFT licenses sound good to me. Old buyers would buy new licenses for their new computers and potential buyers (young guys are growing up) would also buy their licenses later.

Actually I like the life time license idea like this, you can use the software you buy for life time (user sticks to the version he bought), but after one year or whatever you have to pay for upgrades or renew for a new version. Bouncer from Excubits is an example.

Money money money!!! Damn money! :p

I agree much more the idea guest mentioned above:
This is the way to go.

Think about it: the software firm makes lifetime licenses and free intermediate betas to test the product. Yet this is not a good model for the firm to make profits. There's the persistent, omniscient, all powerful demon of PIRACY, so many will just look and get for warez sooner or later.

Again, this is the way to go: to create a special product and/or service not available for consumers, just enterprises or businesses willing to pay really well for that job and creations.

I think @novirusthanks is actually doing this since a long time, really don't know, just speculating. :ninja:

Btw and fwiw, I'd be so happy to be just a guinea pig population contributing to develop Andrea's beautiful creations.

Yearly will lose me as their source of income.
Free, I will walk away from most software. I just had the feeling when he went free it was a stab in the back. After paying.

If ERP will be free, i believe i will have nothing to fear from it. can't say the same for more "renowned" softs.
To me the best solution is a version licensing, you pay once for every major version , if you want upgrade to the newer one, pay again.
Best valid business model for software.

ESO works fine on W10. It is a portable program that changes the service values in the registry. Basically it is just a more useful GUI for Windows Services.

I look at it this way. I purchased a lifetime license for Agnitum's Outpost firewall, for my XP desktop many years ago, version 5 or 6, and never did get it to work on that computer. I even got in touch with the developers by e-mail, and still it wouldn't work. With the purchase of software, you take your chances. Sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. ;) :)

Sounds good, but what was the reason of this setback, are you working on other projects?

Yes I also favor lifetime licenses, and wouldn't mind paying for major updates.

When you install ERP at default settings, it automatically whitelists the essential services and command lines that Windows needs to load.
So even if you take the tick out of the box for allow windows processes, Windows will still continue to load, but you will get lots and lots of prompts.
The solution to that situation, as said, is to whitelist the Windows folder.
And then, if you want, you can make special rules for the processes that you want to control. You could blacklist them, or add them to the vulnerable processes list.

Usually you can solve that problem by whitelisting the command line, instead of the process. The prompt you see gives you the choice to whitelist either the process or the command line. Next time, choose command line.
If it still doesn't work, then you will need to edit the command line with wildcards, which means you put an asterisk * where the random or changing characters appear.

i have owned 6 lifetime licences for security programs. not one of them existed more than 5 years.

i WANT to pay for annual license for ERP so its developer can become wealthy & ERP will still be cutting edge security for looooong long time.

i won't be offended if anyone disagrees with me -- after all, tomodachi, you have an inalienable right to be wrong.

Hi, just curious why your signature links to that particular beta version, rather than to
    EXERadar_Pro_x86_x64_v3.1_24062015_BUILD1
which seems to be a later version?

    Indeed it is.

BUT also, assuming it's in Julian (I have no idea what that means, I just buy one every year and make sure there are 7 days for every week) then we still have roughly a quarter's worth to wait.

You can thank Julius Caesar for your Julian/Gregorian calendar. He's the one who decided that the year begins on January 1st, which, if you think about it, is a pretty strange season for a new year to begin.
But on a more serious note, NVT ERP from 2015 still works great, except for the exasperating need to insert wildcards into command lines that have random characters or version numbers. I hope Andreas can save us from that fate.

Guys we've started reworking on the new ERP on 3 of September, at the moment we're adding back Lockdown Mode, Alert Mode, saving\loading of settings, etc. Will post a version to test asap (the year should be 2017 :D)
